I got a boil (in Filipino, Pigsa) and I hate it. But because of this, I found out how amazing our body is. 😁 It might've started 3 days ago... I just finished exercising and was doing some cool down stretches. When I dropped my hips on the mat, just on that pelvic area (top of the vline), I felt that something has punctured it. I just wiped it off with my hands. It was one of those very tiny stones that is frequently along with the dusts. I didn't pay much attention to it. The next day, I noticed that there's a wound on that part and it seems that it is getting red and swelling. The other day, it got bigger. Yesterday, I started putting on some warm compress for the pus to easily come out. I noticed that in my groin part there is a lump. It scared the hell out of me. So I looked it up on the internet, two searches were boil and swollen lymph nodes. When I searched about the boil, it is a skin infection wherein germs enters a cut skin or wound. So as very curious on the lump that I felt in the groin, I read the boil article althroughout. One that really caught my attention was that the lymph nodes near it may swell. The second search followed, swollen Lymph nodes. According to the article on Mayoclinic.org, "Swollen lymph nodes usually occur as a result of infection from bacteria or viruses. Rarely, swollen lymph nodes are caused by cancer. Your lymph nodes, also called lymph glands, play a vital role in your body's ability to fight off infections. They function as filters, trapping viruses, bacteria and other causes of illnesses before they can infect other parts of your body. Common areas where you might notice swollen lymph nodes include your neck, under your chin, in your armpits and in your groin." Commonly when you have colds, you might feel your lymph nodes swelling under your chin. After that, I also looked up the lymph nodes diagram in the body, and there I saw that there are a lot in the groin part and the portion where I felt the lump is there too. So yeah the lump was because of that swollen lymph node. It is swelling because of the boil(skin infection) through releasing white blood cells to fight off bacteria, filter and maintain the infection in that affected area. I wouldn't worry much about that lump when I felt it, if it wasn't because the night before the lump appeared my bestfriend and I were talking about women hygiene and problems down there. Shaving very frequently is not a good thing and it could lead to a lot of infection or even cancer, which happened to her tutees aunt. After that talk with her, I went upstairs my mom then told me about the video she saw on tiktok, wherein the doctor was informing that frequent shaving can really cause infections and cancer. Shaving routine should be done every 3-4 weeks and just be trimmed and not bald. Yeah, a very concidental topic that night so when I felt a lump that morning. It made me thought about it. 😂🤣 Anyway the lymph nodes function really amazed me. Imagine if there's no lymph nodes and the infection on your foot can spread up to your head. It really did amaze me. 🙂 Boils and bean . Bean is the lymph node as they appear in bean shape.
