19th Century (1800's) The 1800's Industrial Revolution worsened overcrowding, poverty, and filth causing an epidemic such as smallpox, tuberculosis, yellow fever, cholera, and typhoid. 1870 Louis Pasteur (Father of Immunization) discovered the first scientific approach to immunization. 1850 to 1880 Miasma phase of public health. 1800 to 1900 Bacteriological Period of health (Initiative by Louis Pasteur, Robert Koch, and another bacteriologist that demonstrated the specific organism causes a specific disease.
