Labels (Personal Branding Perspective) Writing Prompt #11: Labels by PromptlyJonica Hello! It's JC, I have been experiencing "ideablock" lately (if such word exist) i termed it as "ideablock" because I have difficulty finding a good topic for an article. Good thing, here at PromptlyJonica Community, we encourage everyone to write. I believe that we can tell a story about anything that's under and beyond the sun. So, here it is, my first ever prompt article. If you want to participate in the Writing Prompt. You can read Jonica's article on **Writing Prompt #11: Labels**. To participate: https://read.cash/@JonicaBradley/writing-prompt-11-labels-a5f8c56e *Write about "Labels"* *Write 100% original content* *Write at least 600 words* *Submit your article to the community* ***PromptlyJonica*** https://read.cash/c/promptlyjonica-b4a0 *Have fun!* **Source of Lead Image:** https://fabrikbrands.com/what-is-personal-branding/ I want my lead images to be personal, so from stock photos I downloaded I edit them through photoshop to my desired design. Yep, I can edit photos ;) Labels : Personal Branding Perspective I want to get creative in looking deeper into the word "Label", some of us may end up understanding it at its surface. To start, the word "label" can be related to a lot of things, the most common would be understanding it as a tool to identify things. We see it in packaging, in product labels, even in situations or they are there simply to address the question "What is it?", "labels" are always there to describe, identify and inform. To be honest, I immediately relates Labels to Personal Branding. They both can coincide plus I am also interested in sharing to you what I know about Personal Branding. So what is, Personal Branding? Personal Branding goes beyond the word "label", it cannot be seen through our eyes like a label does nor it cannot be described through textbooks or previous knowledge. It is also beyond the concepts of business identity and marketing presence. But like a "label", Personal Branding talks about defining our niche and creating a unique presence that everyone can immediately recognize. It is coiled to a personality, disposition and the character we live out that makes us stand out from the rest. How can you build your own Personal Branding? Sharing to you, 5 things that I know for you to create your own Personal Branding and begin to stand out from the rest: 1. Knowing yourself Like a label, one should be aware of his/her own identity. Before you can influence other people, you have to start somewhere, this can be done by understanding your ground. You have to know deeper who you are and clearly define what you are capable of. If you are a writer, what style of writing is your expertise? If you play online games, what Hero character can give you the MVP position? Or in life, what are the things you are passionate about? When you are rooted to your true identity, it will help you greatly in defining your niche. "Niche" is like a line that helps you place emphasis on what you are trying to put out in the public. Through your niche, people will immediately identify your advocacy and this will become your consistency. To be consistent is very important if you want to create a stable personal branding. It does not mean that you will no longer accept changes, but it only pertains to sticking to one concept or advocacy and focus on the ways for you to imbibe it within yourself and to the public. 2. Genuine In labels, we want to be honest in naming things or in defining them. The same goes to personal branding, you have to be genuine not only to the public but also to yourself. To be genuine is to accept the identity you established. For example, for this blog of mine, I want it to contain topics that are both relatable to me and to my audience. For me to achieve this, these topics should be first-hand encounters and experiences so that I will not sound so technical. The thing about "honesty or being genuine" is that, people can actually know if you are true of just faking it. That's why it is very important that you know yourself and you accept yourself. 3. You have to fail Personal Branding is not an overnight success that anyone can have. Only few people can appreciate the importance of Personal Branding to be successful in life. For you to have a stable Personal Branding, you have to know that it will take you years and a lot of collective experiences. You have to fail! Because if you don't, then you cannot see the things that you have to improve on. The beautiful part of failing that most people neglect, is actually the learning that they can get out from the experience. You can never know what you are capable, not unless you open yourself to other things that might actually be the best for you. 4. Live out your Branding Often times, it is draining that you only have this spot to stand on. Duality of perspective and disposition is often difficult to maintain. That is why, it is important that your Personal Branding is the same with your Lifestyle. It is a commitment to your advocacy and to your own identity. Also, to live out your branding is to become the reason you want to continue in your identity. You have to do it not only to leave a legacy to the public, but also because you believe in the things you stand for. It is good if you surround yourself with the right kind of attitude and those who are well-grounded with their principles in life. 5. Be impactful Personal Branding would not be successful if you are not able to inspire a soul. Like "labels" personal branding also defines the purpose we want to carry on. Know that your existence is limited, but the actions we make will ripple throughout time. You can create an impact to the lives that surrounds you, your legacy will be your ultimate goal. In personal branding, the best parts would be finding your branding and the impact you have made when you are gone. Do not hesitate to talk about your advocacy, especially when it is intended for the good of the majority. Closing I did not expected it to be this kind of article, one that encourages me to continue on developing my personal brand. I am still new to this platform and I cannot wait what else will these articles teach me about life. I want to thank @JonicaBradley for this prompt, it sure gives me a different kind of perspective towards life. I believe that a good writer is writing to inform and to make emphasis of a lesson. I firmly believe that when we know our personal brand, it will be a great advantage in succeeding a lot of things in life. Hope you learned something ☺️ I want to make my articles short and straightforward, thanks! Stay safe! Special thanks to my sponsors ☺️ If you have questions, i would be glad to answer them. My Bucket List Kick-starter *This is a response to* @ThisisGrace21 *challenge for me, to come up with a bucket list of my own. I want to say thank you to Grace for indeed being a "grace" to the people around her, she introduced me this platform, thus, I am here writing my life. Get well soon grace!* The word "bucket List" **Before I go into my list, I got curious and tried to understand first what "bucket list" means. I even went deeper to who started it and how the list became so popular throughout time. This is what I found out...** https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/bucket%20list **According to Merriam Webster, it is a list of things that you want to do or get to experience before dying. Upon knowing its definition, I realized that I should also have my list of things I want to do. Not only for the reason that our lives can be short-lived, but also for the reasons of holding myself accountable and for me to say that my life is well-spent. I must say, bucket lists are as well goals that could change our perspectives and lifestyle.** So, this is how I do my bucket list **The things I need:** **A journal** **A pen** *I have been a part of a community that encourages its members to have their personal journal. Actually, I have my own journal and I often write their some experiences I don't want to forget and even make random doodles in it... but this is a different story I might share some other time haha* **Writing down my bucket list is a start for me. So, I had it in my journal or you can have it listed down in a sticky note or to wherever you want to, as long as you get so see it from time to time. I am a visual person, I learn most when I am able to see it. In the same manner, I want to list it down in my journal to remind me and motivate me to do decisions that best leads me to checking one off of my list.** So, Here it is! My Bucket List :) *I listed 5, in no particular order, whatever comes first, then I'd be glad to cross them off the list. I only had 5 as of now, but I know the list will continue as I age and earn more experience in life.* ***1. I need to get my License*** **I need to get my license, I already finished college and I really believe that through passing my Licensure Exams would somehow wrap up my 5 years in college. It really is my ultimate Goal as of the moment, and I have been aiming for it basically 1/4 of my 23 years here on Earth. I cannot put any more stress to this, I just want to fulfill this (or maybe because of ego haha) mainly because, I want to make my parents happy and for them to be proud of themselves for believing in me. It is also my way of returning back to God all the credit that He deserves (i mean who else deserves our ultimate best) He who never abandoned me since day zero. More so, I do not want to be self-centered in my reasons in why I want to succeed, our victories are always meant to be shared to others. Thus, getting my license is my way of repaying those who invested in me, financially, emotionally and in prayer.** I will surely make an article, when I pass my Boards *fingers-crossed ***2. A family vacation outside our country*** **I am really rooting for a vacation outside the country with my family. Anywhere around the world or maybe in a snowy country to be specific. They really made a huge impact of who I am today, and taking this off the list would be a very humbling experience for me. They deserve all the best in the world.** **I am eyeing, New York or maybe Disneyland or maybe in Holy Land. There are a lot of places to visit. I am just keeping my hopes high for these things to happen.** ***3. Own a Cozy house*** **I am in-love with the sea. Thus, I need a house near the sea. Who would not want an afternoon coffee in a balcony and having the sunset as the view? Imagining, the cool breeze pushing against your face and breathing some salty air. In short, I am in-love with the sea. Our town is located in between high mountains, maybe this is also a reason why I love the sea.** Invest on things that gives you lasting happiness. This is my mantra. ***4. Sponsor an Advocacy*** **Fourth on the list and I think one of the reasons I want to do good in life, is that I want to live a life with purpose. Being a steward of our planet is a mission I carry-on up to this date. It is actually everybody's role to protect life and nurture it for the next generations. I am looking forward to much sustainable ways, eradicating plastic completely and maximizing our existing resources. I am thinking of slowly adapting a lifestyle that is friendly to nature, this I think is the least thing that I could do as of now.** I might make more articles about awareness and how can we take action even through our small actions. ***5. Do a Mural!*** **I am a self-proclaimed artist. I mean, anyone can be an artist, right? I actually have an Instagram account where I put my art stuff, mostly sketches, doodles, digital art and some calligraphy. I think I can draw, and that's something I love doing especially when I am tired reading my academic books. I am amazed with the concept of murals and how it lightens up every streets. Also, murals are created to emphasize a message in a creative and eye-catching way.** **Now that I mentioned it, maybe I would make a mural that depicts realities in our society or maybe about nature. It would be actually cool if I get my friends help me do the mural while having pizza on the side. We could take a picture with it when we're done.** just comment down, if you want to be part of my mural project :D My realization to this **I am actually feel humbled making this list. It may sound so big for me to achieve, but what I know is that, it's never wrong to dream or have a goal. We all have one shot at this life, may we all trust that we are meant to be great.** **Actually, the word "bucket list" was popularized through a Hollywood film entitled "The Bucket List", it is a movie way back 2007 and it revolves around stories of cancer patients who were at their terminal stages. They have this list that they wish to fulfill before they die. The lesson here is that, we don't need to know when exactly our lives will end before we decide how to live our life.** **Yes, there will be a lot of failures along the process, but what truly counts is how many times we try again. And a bucket list is one reminder that at some point in our life, we committed ourselves to something worth it and may our actions lead to where our list is intended for** **You? What's your bucket list? :)** If you have comments/recommendations: I would be glad to hear your thoughts to this topic. I am open for constructive criticisms for me to improve as a writer. Again, this blog will be about my personal experiences, thoughts, reflections and maybe for skills sharing. Thank you for reading 😊 stay safe

What truly matters I bet you have the same experience as mine. Those times that we think that we just need to survive today. This open letter is for you. Hey you... I know you're tired and anxious. It does not mean that you're weak or fragile, it just simply means that you're human. Capable of feeling and experiencing the rollercoasters of our emotions. I know you misses the "old" you, the one who is so positive and outgoing. Your old self who is so care-free and so warm. And it's completely fine to long for those moments. I am writing to tell you, that what you're feeling right now is valid and it matters. It is okay to feel blue and have gray days. It is okay to feel that way, you know what... These are the moments, that you slow down, you try look deeper within and you ask again "why?". Slow moments in our lives are necessary to help us draw back from the noises and from the fast-changing world. These are the times that allows us to think and check on ourselves. It does not mean that you will be left behind or that you are not strong enough. Slowing is beautiful because it reminds you of all the little details that makes you a unique. It allows you to appreciate these serenity of life and how wholesome the feeling of such. From all the failures, mishaps and disappointments that we all feel. May we be reminded that sometimes, being positive is not applicable, but Acceptance to whatever transpires in life would build us better as a person. Accepting that there are good days and not-so-good ones, and realizing that you can always try again, that is what truly matters.

what I don't want to be when I grow up This is a personal story of discovering what's within and what's beyond our dreams and anticipations in Life. Growing up as a kid, I clearly remember that it was taught to us "How to dream", it all started during a recital in our school, we were asked back then "What do we want to be when we grow up?". I remember saying that I want to be a teacher when I grow up, so that I can help kids learn stuff, I already knew back then that I should have a dream to hold on to as I grow older. I strived my way to high school, garnering awards and putting excellence in every thing that I do. I dreamt of becoming a successful Accountant someday, working in a prestigious firm and inspiring people of what I have accomplished by then. I was so driven by this dream that I cannot wait to fulfill in the near future. I was so lucky to have very supportive parents that allows me to continue on doing my best in life. I was so convinced that nothing could ever go wrong, and that I am taking the best path for me to achieve my goals in life. I took up my Accountancy course in the best school in our Region. It surely was not easy to pursue a high-end course in a place where competition is a big thing. It was a place of struggles and victories, and I made it through with much confidence that I have done my best and that I am ready to face what life has to offer after graduating College. But what's next really turned my entire life 360 degrees... Pandemic came in. It was a day turned to days, turned to weeks, and months, more months. At first, it was a breather for me to finally have my break after recently graduating from college. I thought it was like a phase that everyone experiences and then we get to go back to what it used to be. I still got my hopes up during the first month of Pandemic, I grew up as a very optimistic person with an outgoing attitude especially with what I am passionate. Then waking up one morning, I lost my energy. Getting out of my bed became very difficult, I lost count of the days that have passed. I tried pulling myself together with what is going on, but I end up questioning what have I done to deserve all of these. I tried rationalizing things, explaining to myself that this will be over and I can continue on achieving my dreams. As someone who is used of planning ahead of time, and someone who does not make a Plan B because I push through with only one plan, this crisis really broke me and my spirit towards my dreams. It was like, I was robbed of my dream of becoming great in what I pursue on. Aside from the health risks that this pandemic poses, it as well attacks our Mental Health, something we take for granted and often ignore in our lives. As someone who is seen to be passionate and optimistic, it was so difficult to deal with the uncertainties that this situation is causing. I tried hiding it by focusing more on what I love to do, I create artworks and write articles, and even taught myself to bake. I thought that by doing so, I would eventually move on, but it just consumed me and burning my interests in life. I thought that hiding would do it, but it ended up piling up and the weight of it is unbearable. It was the lowest that I have been my entire 20 years of existing. Most days I do nothing and pretty much sink myself scrolling on my phone the entire day. One day, I was reminded by an old photo from our recital when I was still a kid. I recalled the moment and the question "What do I want to be when I grow up?", I pondered and asked it again to 22 year old self. I thought well of what to answer, but I want to ask myself "What do I want to do with my life right now?". I realized, I have lived my entire life holding on to what I want to become in the distant future. I forgot to live the "now" because I was so impatient with what the universe has to offer me. I was so wrong with the concept of waiting, I was looking at a future so uncertain that I neglected what the present is giving me. A pandemic may not be the ideal time that we all are experiencing, but it surely is the best time to remind us that we all are human, we fail but we carry on with fervor. The present time that we have right now is the time that we all should slow down, a time to think and a time to open up to opportunities. A time to appreciate what have been, to be grateful to what we have now and the time to hope for a better tomorrow. I slowly remind myself that we are defined by our pasts but we define ourselves on what we continue on believing and the good changes we are looking forward to. We all are going through something in our lives. Coping up is a process unique to each of us, I may have coped up through the support of my family, some may find their source through friends, through what they are passionate about. What I learned is that, waiting is not based on your timeline but is related to keeping oneself rooted with the right reasons of why we do what we do in life. I am not giving up on my dream of becoming an Accountant, not now that the world needs more accountants to alleviate the impact of pandemic. I learned that we should never stop on dreaming not just for yourself but also to dream with other people. It is when we live for others, we realize that life is not meant to be lived alone. Waiting may be a tough process, but it's not that tough when we look closer at the relationships we build and the lives we touch during the process of waiting. You may be still in pain right now, just take time with yourself. Your pain has a reason, you will soon find it out one day at a time. Remember, your brokenness may be a breakthrough to bigger opportunities. Just be patient enough, be the source of positivity towards other people and find your source of positivity. Especially now that the pandemic tells us to distant ourselves from one another, may we still find ways to still be one through prayer and the little kindness we show everyday. May we not grow up with so much indifference to the world, but may we grow up appreciating the process of achieving our dreams not only for ourselves but also to be shared to others.
