Though as a public company they likely have auditors everywhere and it would be extremely hard for them to do something similar to FTX. Binance on the other hand is a private company and they could easily do something similar to what FTX did. Not that I assume they do, but they could, if they wanted. Unlike Coinbase.

I think some parties see Coinbase vs Binance like the USA and China competing with each other. On the one side, there is the public company Coinbase, on the other side, the most popular and leading crypto exchange that survives FUD and Crypto winter.
Yes, everyone remembers that, but it's one case where it failed and there are like thousands upon thousands of cases where it worked. In a private company though, not so much.

If I remember correctly Enron also was a public company, so sadly auditors not always do a great job :/
