Malaysia 2011 50 Years Anniversary World Wide Fund (WWF) Commemorative Coin On November 24, 2011, in conjunction with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) 50th Anniversary, Bank Negara Malaysia issued three types of commemorative coins. The commemorative coins were launched today by His Majesty the Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan, located at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
Around the surface of the coin is exposed to images of endangered animal species such as tigers, rhinoceros, tapirs, elephants, and turtles. In the center of the coin, the image of the forest is important for the existence of wildlife. The image also symbolizes WWF's efforts in environmental protection, endangered wildlife conservation, and forest habitat in Malaysia. The word "50th Anniversary" is to commemorate 50 years of WWF's efforts to address environmental issues, while the year "1961-2011" marked the establishment of WWF.
At the back of the coin, a registered trademark, and organization logo, "WWF" and Panda bears. The word "Bank Negara Malaysia", the authority issuing the commemorative coin, appears on the top of the coin. The denominator of the coin is displayed on the bottom of the coin. The image and silhouette of Rafflesia Azlanii flowers, which are unique to Malaysia, are displayed on the left side of the coin. The commemorative coins are minted and packed by Bank Negara Malaysia and sold on 25 November 2011 at Bank Negara Malaysia's head office (BNMLINK), and its representative offices and branches in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuala Terengganu, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching.
