SRK Borneo noodle house Sarawak Cendol

After lunch,  I revisit SRK Borneo noodle house to try out some unique desserts. This restaurant specializes in Sarawak dishes, highly recommend you visit it if you ever pass by Desa Setapak.

This time I order their cendol special which is sold at RM7.90 per bowl. However the staff told me they run out of red beans, so they will replace it with sweet corn. Cendol is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of green rice flour jelly, coconut milk, and palm sugar syrup. It is commonly found in Southeast Asia and is popular in Malaysia. Next to the green jelly, additional toppings might be added, including diced jackfruit, sweetened red azuki beans, or durian. For the Sarawak Cendol, it used Gula Apong instead of Gula Melaka compared used in normal cendol. Gula Apong is a variant of jaggery, which is made from the sap of the nipah palm or Nypa fruticans. Nypa fruticans, commonly known as the nipa palm (or simply nipa) or mangrove palm, are found many in the Sarawak coastline.
