Grandmama Hainanese chicken rice
Today I decided to have my lunch at Grandmama's Restaurant to try another dish. It is renowned for serving local delicacies, this branch is located at the Intermark Mall if you want to visit this branch.
This time I order their Hainanese chicken rice, it cost RM20.90 after including the 16% service tax. Hainanese chicken rice is a dish of poached chicken and seasoned rice, served with chilli sauce and usually with cucumber garnishes. It was created by immigrants from Hainan in southern China who stay in Malaysia and adapted from the Hainanese dish Wenchang chicken. In Malacca and Muar, the rice is served in balls rather than in bowls; this dish is commonly known as Chicken rice balls. Steamed rice is shaped into golf ball-sized orbs and served alongside the chopped chicken.
