It is released in two types; Silver coins with a face value of 10 Ringgit, sold at RM120 each & placement quantity is limited to 1,000 pieces. Bimetallic coins with a face value of 1 Ringgit, sold at RM5 & mintage are limited to 10,000 pieces. The same design is used for two types of commemorative coins. The front side of the coin shows the landmark in Shah Alam, the State Mosque placed between the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and the State Secretariat Building, the word "SEMPENA PENGISYTIHARAN BANDARAYA SHAH ALAM" and the date of declaration "10 OCTOBER 2000" . At the back of the coin shows the symbol of the Shah Alam City Council and the face value of the coin. This coin design is produced by MBSA and Royal Mint Malaysia. The commemorative coins are minted and packed by The Royal Mint of Malaysia. At that time, it was sold at The Royal Mint of Malaysia, Complex Factory at Lot 2, Persiaran Selangor, Section 15, 40720 Shah Alam. The coins are also sold at BNM Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, BNM branches in Penang, Kuala Terengganu, Johor Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, and Wisma MBSA, Shah Alam.
