Chuen hot plate Hainanese chicken chop

Today dinner, I visit the Chuen, a Hainanese Restaurant to try another dish. It is located at the Wangsa Walk Mall if you wish to visit it.

This time I order their hot plate Hainanese chicken chop, which cost RM17.50 after including the 10% service tax. Hainanese Chicken chop has its root in Hainanese immigrants and our British colonial past. Under British ruling, Hainanese owned many kopitiams and British preferred meat and potatoes, so there born the hainanese chicken chop served in kopitiams. Hainanese chicken chops are actually not considered Western food. It should have been classified as Malaysian Hainanese food. The difference between a chicken steak and a Hainanese chicken chop is the over-abundance of sauce. For Chuen version, they served the chicken chop on a hot plate with a lot of tomato sauce along with some potato wedges and small pak choy.
