Let's Make a Difference in Our Lives
What we can do for our personal development is deep sea. There are many methods, practitioners, and books. The common purpose of all of them is to provide body and mind awareness and to help bring us into balance for our body-mind-spirit integrity. You can get as many different training from as many people as you want. But if what you have learned is limited to your good feeling when you learn it, you always look for someone else to feel good and run to the next training. This situation can be one of the handicaps of personal development. The main purpose is to create permanent change, even transformation, through these methods. The way to do this is to apply what you have learned.
I have been dealing with awareness issues related to myself for many years. I attended periodical trainings and workshops, went to sessions, read books, watched videos. I still continue. If I can infer from my experience so far; Whatever happened in the past is happening. If we do not cling to the emotion that it creates, the experience ends and life flows. If we can achieve this, we can stay in balance, but if we are stuck with past emotions, we are drifting towards imbalance. My second biggest drawback is the power of staying in the moment. In fact, this is getting rid of past emotions and being able to fully experience what is happening at that moment. The issue of staying in the moment therefore becomes linked with the first inference. Although the methods I learned and the trainings I received are different, they all come to this conclusion from my point of view.
Breathing and meditation practices were also some of these methods. It appeared in many places, and I understood its importance. When a person does regular breathing and meditation exercises, they can observe automatic responses from the past in their body and feel emotions. And when that person starts to observe these, he can stop his automatism by giving a pause and not engaging in that emotion or behavior. Thus, one by one, by getting rid of the emotional burdens of the past, they can come one step closer to living in the moment each day and regain their balance. It was great to know these and learn about their benefits, but just because I did not mean that I could change them myself. I could always find myself in similar situations, even if I attended that much education and read books. In order to get out of that situation, I was trying to find another method, a book, and learn new things to be more useful this time. Finally, this year I realized that no matter how much I learned, I would continue to search for as long as I did not apply what I learned. However, I had all of that information. It was time to apply what I knew, not to seek a new one.
I did that too. From what I've learned, breathing and meditation exercises have made the biggest change in my life. While I used to "**know**" its utility before, now I have experienced its utility by "**applying**" it myself. Another method was to create environments for staying in the moment. I have tried in different ways that staying in the moment calms our mind and makes it easier for us to see different possibilities by staying in the present. We understood the importance of the application. So how can we make it organized? Personally, when I have an obligation to do a job, I get colder from that job. For this reason, I have to take it out of necessity and make it enjoyable. I have tried various methods for this and the following have helped me the most:
Making it a part of the day by applying it at certain times rather than a general request like "I will do it every day". Just like mealtimes. For me, breathing and meditation is now an activity I do in the morning before breakfast. When I said to do it during the day, I observed that there was no time left for these practices because other work was always a priority and I found such a way for myself. You can also discover the way that is good for you. To create a special environment for the activity you want to do. A certain corner of the house, its seat. Or, depending on the activity you are going to do, it may be to make that activity more enjoyable, such as burning candles or incense or opening light music. I recommend that you determine and personalize these ways according to the ones you like. Our goal is to increase our willingness to do it by making it more enjoyable.
Thanking yourself every time you apply it. Always remember that you are someone who has the courage to integrate this into your life, and don't thank yourself for taking a concrete step for yourself. Perhaps you have read these suggestions somewhere or heard from some instructors. But do not forget that knowing is not enough… With this article, I invite you to practice knowingly by making a small reminder. The more you apply, the more benefit you will see. ***Yes, which one do we start with first?***
