Sᴜʟᴛᴀɴ Aʙᴅᴜʟ Sᴀᴍᴀᴅ Bᴜɪʟᴅɪɴɢ, Kᴜᴀʟᴀ Lᴜᴍᴘᴜʀ Located in front of Dataran Merdeka (or Independence Square in English), Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad (English: Sultan Abdul Samad Building) was initially named simply Government Offices, something like Putrajaya of today. Featuring Neo-Mughal / Moorish architecture, this late-nineteenth century building was renamed in 1974 after the reigning Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Abdul Samad. As Dataran Merdeka hosts many large events and celebrations, I once booked a hotel just around the corner from Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad, but the area was cordoned off and my Grab (e-hailing ride) was not able to drop me at my hotel. I had to get down from a distance, and made my way to the hotel on foot with heavy luggage. Hah... so now you know that if you want to put up at a hotel in this area, make sure there is no celebration/festivity/event hosted here at the same time! #Travel
