Friend's cat was sleeping on a chair. When I approached to try to take a "flatlay" photo of it, it woke up and seemed to ask, "What??"

It looks like your cat doesn't want to be disturbed. The sleeping posture that we see uncomfortable but might be the best position for them to enjoy their sleep.
