𝑻𝒂𝒋 𝑴𝒂𝒉𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒑𝒐𝒉 This is an unconventional photography angle of the Ipoh Railway Station. Known as the Taj Mahal of Ipoh due to similar Moorish architecture, this is the main railway terminal for Perak state - Ipoh is the capital city. Opened in 1917, the Ipoh Railway Station was designed by Arthur Benison Hubback, who was also the architect for Kuala Lumpur railway station and Kowloon railway station. All in all, Arthur Benison Hubback designed some 25 buildings in Malaya (original name of Malaysia), of which four are in Ipoh, such as the Town Hall, Central Mental Hospital and Anderson's Boys School, besides the railway station. The primary passenger service at the Ipoh Railway Station is the Electric Train Service, also known as ETS. This inter-city rail passenger service is the fastest metre-gauge train service in the country, ferrying passengers from Ipoh to Kuala Lumpur in the south or Butterworth (Penang) in the north. Come to think of it, my last ride on the train was in January 2020, just before COVID-19 broke out around the world.
