FOODlog #120: Nasi Kandar with Ayam Vanggey After basketball the other day, me and my friends went for dinner at a nearby 'mamak' restaurant we've been frequenting. So far I've tried their 'maggi goreng', naan bread, and fried chicken. It was all quite good and this time I ordered their 'Nasi Kandar'. I saw a queue there of some of the regulars I've noticed that go there whenever we are there too. They were all queuing up to get the 'Nasi Kandar'. The curries all looked good and I got myself their 'Ayam Vanggey' and some stir fried long beans that have been chopped up into small dices. I got a mix of all their curries for my rice and then I was ready to dig in. The 'Nasi Kandar' was so delicious that I think it has made it to the top spot of my all time favorite 'Nasi Kandar' list. The curries were all to flavorful and mixing with the rice, each bite was just heavenly. Just the right amount of spices and heat to the curries where you can thoroughly enjoy your rice with the curries.
The chicken ('Ayam Vanggey') was also so delicious. The gravy that comes with it was a thick onion gravy loaded with spices. The onions were caramelized that made them so sweet and perfect with the chicken. After that night, I've been craving to eat there ever since. We wanted to go for basketball today and I was looking forward for dinner at this place again. But it was raining today so we had to cancel. It's been raining so much recently that we can't go out for sports. Hope the coming week will give us good weather and we can go out and have fun together.
