Our unpleasant experience with Storm Agaton Hello everyone here in read. Several users here in Leyte, especially myself, has not been active that much since yesterday because of the storm landfall. We left with the feeling of vigilance, be very careful and alert with our surroundings in case there's a need to emergency evacuation. Yesterday, at the midst of the storm landfall, it really rained hard. We did not expect much to have such very heavy downpour of rain since its storm signal was initially Signal No. 1, a Tropical Depression. But then again, we were still at home but still very careful. Since the last storm, our community nearly became flooded if the storm had been raining the whole night during its landfall. I can say, that we were still traumatized.

During typhoon Odette, our boarding house was nearby around here and yeah, we stayed here in the last storm. However, it did not flood at all, unlike what happened here.

We were truly saddened to have seen this yesterday on Facebook. We were not expecting that something this tragic would ever happen. As said in the Favcebook post, this catastrophe was located at Brgy. Bunga, City of Baybay. It is said that there are 6 families that are still missing, and still being rescued. Huhu, hopefully they are rescued. And for late in the afternoon yesterday, I was checking the creek at the back portion of the house just in front of ours, to see if we are not at risk of floods, luckily Thank God, the water level did not rise too high. But I was left no choice but to bathe in the rain, as it has been flooding at the back of our house and I was tasked to help make a small canal for the water to pass through the water exit in our wall.

And at night, the power was shut and we had no choice but to sleep early. But I having problems in sleeping early because its been raining hard once again. And, once again thank God. I was able to have a sound sleep, and the thing that I've been worried did not happen, the sudden floods. But earlier this morning, we woke up to shocking news. .

This bridge has been here for ages, but now it has been severely damaged due to rising levels of waters in the river brought by the storm. And now, the roads for Mahaplag - Tacloban is Not Passable. This will surely cause delays in the travels of certain vehicles, considering that this is along the National Highway. Also, the last barangay near the boundary of Mahaplag - Baybay City also had landslides along the road

And as of now, the clearing in this part of the road is still ongoing but because of this, the roads for Mahaplag to Baybay City is Not Passable. Because as it is said in other separate posts, that certain barangays of Baybay City also had landslides along the highway making it very hard for vehicles to travel. Also, the roads from Mahaplag to Sogod, Southern Leyte is also Not Passable due to the same reasons, multiple Landslides along the highway. And here in Mahaplag, As I went to my friend's house since the rain became lighter, we went watching the river in the dike, with walking distance from their house.

But we got lucky, that the rain has not been stronger unlike yesterday and the river has not caused floods unlike in the recent storm. Closing thoughts. . Despite all of these tragic happenings in all of our surroundings, and to what happened with our neighboring towns, I still have a lot to Thank God for, since my Family is safe even if we feel like we are already landlocked. But I really feel sad and sorry for those who were in the dire situations caused by Typhoon Agaton. To my dear read users, please include us, the people of Leyte, PH, in your prayers as the storm will still be here for a day, and I really can't help but feel to fear about what might happen in the hours or days ahead.
