@ddtpecko more from that month

My dear friends of the noise! I said the other day when I published photos from cycling that I would write something more about the memorial under the name: Exchange Bridge. Here I take this opportunity to share more photos and write more about it. The memorial called "Bridge of Exchange" is located on the road between Ruma and Stejanovac, and was erected at the place where the exchange of captured Germans for partisans and political workers took place on September 2, 1943. The memorial consists of two parts. The first is located on the right side of the road towards Stejanovci, in front of the bridge. It is made of reinforced concrete, 3.60 meters high. At the top, in the truncated part, there are concrete parts of cast iron (in the shape of sheets) which symbolize the broken bars of the prison. In the middle of the landmark, a marble slab was concreted on which the text "Exchange Bridge" was carved and painted in gold. On the left side towards Stejanovci, behind the bridge, there is a monument of the same dimensions as before, with the difference that at the top there are concrete sheets of cast iron that symbolize the flame - freedom. In the middle of the monument there is a concrete white marble slab on which the following text is carved and painted in gold: "The strong and massive development of the national liberation movement in Srem forced the German fascist forces to officially recognize the NOP in this place, by an act of exchanging captured Germans for political prisoners." The act of exchange was signed on behalf of the People's Liberation Army by Vukasin Bivolarevic-Wolf, then deputy commander of the Frushkogorski partisan detachment. On that occasion, 28 German soldiers were exchanged for 64 partisans. The bridge of exchange is a testimony that there was an active anti-fascist struggle in Srem and Serbia. The author of the monument is Jovan Soldatović, a sculptor from Novi Sad. The monument was erected and unveiled in 1971. *********************************************************************************************** Dragi moji prijatelji buke!
