The city wall surrounded the suburbs. Of the old medieval town, the best-preserved brunch tower is in the shape of a horseshoe, eighteen meters high. Vrdnik Tower belongs to the buildings of medieval military architecture and was an important strategic and defensive point. With the penetration of the Turks in Srem in 1521, the town of Vrdnik was abandoned, the Turkish government declared it a "quarry" and sold the stones of the walls and suburbs, so that today only the ruined dungeon tower and the remains of the ramparts can be seen on the hill. only a few of the best-preserved medieval buildings on the territory of today's Vojvodina. Recent research has shown that the foundations of the Vrdnik Tower date back to Roman times. It is believed that the main function of the fortress was the protection of Sirmium (Sremska Mitrovica). According to some sources, the builder of the tower was the Roman emperor Probus as early as 287. This fortification is 17 centuries old and as such deserves special attention. The lonely tower has withstood the test of time and people, and although it is almost completely devastated, it is the only remnant of the once mighty town of Vrdnik. In 2013, the construction of the tourist complex Ethno settlement "Vrdnička kula" began at the foot of the Vrdnička tower. Prodorom Turaka u Srem 1521. godine, grad Vrdnik je zapusteo, turska vlast ga je proglasila "kamenolom" i prodavala kamenje zidina i podgradja, da bi se danas na brdu videli samo zarušena donžon kula i ostaci bedema, pa ipak je Vrdnička kula jedna od svega nekoliko najočuvaniji srednjovekovnih gradjevina na teritoriji današnje Vojvodine. Najnovija istraživanja su pokazala da temelji Vrdničke kule potiču iz doba vladavine Rimljana. Smatra se da je osnovna funkcija tvrdjave bila zaštita Sirmiuma (Sremska Mitrovica). Prema nekim izvorima graditelj kule bio je rimski car Probus već 287. godine. Ovo utvrdjenje staro je 17 vekova i kao takvo zaslužuje posebnu pažnju. Usamljena kula odolela je vremenu i ljudima, i mada gotovo u potpunosti devastirana, jedini je ostatak nekada moćnog Vrdničkog grada.
