Every once in a while, I get a client who wants me to write a press release. In this case, it was the Hive blockchain. They've authorized me to distribute the press release as I see fit, so I'm sharing it with you all. https://hive.blog/hive-177682/@allentaylor/hive-announces-support-for-ledger

Summary: Web3 is alive and kicking, but NFT sales are nearly dead. Ethereum smart contract development is on the rise like bread dough in Paul Hollywood’s oven. But everyone’s on the edge of their seats this week wondering when Twitter will transform into a Web3 powerhouse under Elon Musk’s tutelage. Plus, you don’t want to miss the lowdown on why no one wants to get down in the metaverse. Keep reading … it’s about to get virtual.…
And now, without further ado, here are my cryptosocial earnings for the month of October 2022. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/cryptosocial-earnings-october-2022

Bitcoin miners are selling mining machines at deep discounts. The banking industry uses 56 times more energy than bitcoin mining. One trend that could send bitcoin to the pinnacle of asset classes. Former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes says bitcoin buying will end when central bank digital currencies (CBDC) take over. Of course, with more single-sided liquidity pools, bitcoin could be the DeFi foundation.…
LBRY lost its case against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Judge rules LBC is a security. The LBRY team is retreating to lick its wounds. Decrypt says it sets a dangerous precedent. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/web3-wednesday-lbrys-lbc-ruled-a

The past couple of weeks have been a wild ride in crypto. It started with Elon Musk freeing the bird, a moment that many die-hard liberals took as a sign that he had flipped them the bird. And just for greater context, enjoy this nice, sweet little explanation of bird flipping. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/solve-for-x-what-will-twitter-become
Looking for feedback on my next book cover. Which one do you like best? https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/book-cover-i-need-your-feedback
Many of my faithful readers know that I published a book earlier this year titled Cryptosocial: How Cryptocurrencies Are Changing Social Media. It has had a pretty good reception, but I think my next book will get an even better reception. https://read.cash/@cryptocracy/book-cover-looking-for-feedback-on-my-next-book-cover-93ccef3c
A bombshell dropped on crypto last week. I’m sure you’ve heard the news. Not all of the links in this newsletter are focused on FTX, but the first 14 are. Enjoy! https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/ftx-from-crypto-winter-to-nuclear
FTX inspired an all-time high in cryptosocial activity. More than 6.9 billion engagements. See? It wasn’t all bad. There is a great royalty debate raging on in the world of NFTs. Many NFT marketplaces are migrating toward an optional-royalty paradigm, but OpenSea has decided to support creator royalties. The ultimate question is which model will win out in the long-term? https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/web3-wednesday-ftx-inspired-cryptosocial
If Web3 doesn’t deliver on its promise of protecting individual privacy and sovereignty, it will be an utter failure. My fear is that it will patch a wound with an insufficient band-aid while allowing those who will exploit user data to capitalize on inherent weaknesses and enriching those who profit from that exploitation. If that happens, Web3 could be worse than Web2. https://read.cash/@cryptocracy/ftx-caused-the-biggest-cryptosocial-surge-in-history-1ba71970
There’s a specter haunting the cryptocurrency space and it’s coming for you. I’m about to tell you something that will shock and lock your jaws. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/why-i-said-goodbye-to-3000-a-month
The great crypto exchange war has begun: Binance made an end-run around Coinbase and now holds the most bitcoin reserve among crypto exchanges—$9.34 billion. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/the-great-crypto-exchange-war-has
Today, I’m breaking from my usual programming to make you a special high-value one-time offer that is available for a limited time. My latest book, Web3 Social: How Creators Are Changing the World Wide Web, is scheduled to release in January. But you can get it right now in a special bundle that is available for only one week. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/web3-social-how-creators-are-changing
Magic Eden integrates with Polygon. If Magic Eden keeps branching out, it could eventually overtake OpenSea as the leading NFT marketplace. But it still has a long way to go. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/web3-wednesday-magic-eden-kisses
Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have entered the comic book world like Batman at a fight scene. 2142 is set in a future metaverse where the last bitcoin has been mined, artificial intelligence (AI) is the norm, and myth and reality co-exist. In an interactive world with role playing-like mechanics, comic book NFT owners vote on how the story unfolds and receive tokenized versions of their personalized webcomic. The creator behind it all is Chief Executive Officer and Chief…
Hey guys, I said on Tuesday that I wasn’t going to bombard you with sales pitches all week, and I’m going to be true to my word. However, I did want to drop a quick reminder that my book Web3 Social: How Creators Are Changing the World Wide Web (And You Can Too!) is available only for a limited time. That is, until it releases officially to the public in January. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/reminder-only-4-days-left
Bitcoin mining revenue is at its lowest in two years. BTC millionaire wallets drop 80 percent in one year. Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak says bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency that is “pure-gold mathematics.” I denounce both bitcoin maximalists and bitcoin denouncers. There is a lot to admire about BTC and even some things to criticize. Like it or loathe it, you can’t deny that it has changed the trajectory of finance for the better.…
The top news of the day is BlockFi, which filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy yesterday. 1 BTC is trending. $FTM trended briefly this morning. As did Kucoin. Naturally, BlockFi is also trending. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/twitter-tuesday-blockfi-files-for
OpenSea opens up to supporting BNB Chain NFTs. 20 leading blockchains accounted for $568 million in NFT sales this month, a 22 percent bounce. That’s a pretty significant jump in a bear market. I’ll be curious to see how December goes. Will people buy NFTs as Christmas gifts for their friends and family? If so, we’ll likely see another jump in sales with a significant fall in January. https://cryptocracy.substack.com/p/web3-wednesday-opensea-to-support
