I know I'm going to give away my age when I say this, but I remember when the doors to church buildings were left unlocked, 24/7, so that anybody could some inside if they wanted to. I also remember when they started locking doors to church buildings because thieves started vandalizing the buildings and stealing whatever they found inside that they thought had value. In my neighborhood that started happening late 60s, early 70s. That's about 40 years ago. These days the church doors are locked and some of the buildings even have security systems. Before: There was a gold relic worth $ 2million AND After: There is a hole where the relic used to be, WHO DID IT? The thieves were smart enough to steal the camera recordings from the church's security system. So nobody knows! I do wonder what they plan to do with that relic.
