reasons on creating the Proclamation No. 1081 stated by Marcos himself: was a response to various leftist and rightist plots against the Marcos administration; was just the consequence of political decay after American-style democracy failed to take root in Philippine society; and was a reflection of Filipino society's history of authoritarianism and supposed need for iron-fisted leadership the causes of these reasons: Chinese funded NPA Civil unrest Foreign loans What caused civil unrest? The debts that happened through Edifice Complex, large-scale infrastructure projects that could not be paid, this caused peso to devalue. (Bye bye plane fare worth 20 pesos haha) Who took advantage of this? Chinese funded NPA (Mao Zedong, People's war doctrine) Aquino End result: Edsa revolution and removal of President Ferdinand Marcos for me, I blame Imelda Marcos for her incompetent spending on Edifice Complex.
