Agios Pavlos Beach was the first beach we visited as we were offered a ride by our host, Titika, of the Pension Titika in Katapola.
The beach is situated between Katapola and Aegiali and has a pebbled texture. You will find many locals here (mainly women with their children) that come to relax during the quiet hours (between 14:00 - 17:00). They prefer this beach above the ones in Katapola and Aegiali as it less known by tourists and is so more calm. If you want rest, close to 'home', come here ;-)
Because of its shallow waters, it is ideal to come here with small children. With a mask they will play endless 'hide-and-seek' with the many colorful fish that are housed in the rocky sea bottom here. You will be able to enjoy this beach long into the evening for the sunset as it is on the west side of the island. Beautiful!
If you are sensitive to the sun make sure you bring a lot of sun cream or an umbrella as there are no trees here. Because of the smooth fresh wind you will not understand how 'traitorous' the sun burns!
From this beach you can take a taxi-boat that will bring you to the very small island opposite: Nikouria. Here you will find three beautiful sandy beaches. If you come early in the morning you can also ask a local fisherman to bring you there (in return of a small tip). That's the way I like it.
