Protect Our Children
Today, we should think on protecting the children, the kids, not because of their young age but because they have the right to be protected and not abused. I know that this issue is a sensitive one since some users here already have kids. But, this is a social issue that should be talked about and not set aside. Numbers of crimes are increasing. And what's more disturbing is that the involvement of minors or children is now happening. Some are the culprits, but most of the time they are the victims. There are also some situations where children should not be involved. They should focus on playing, studying, and enjoying their childhood instead of being forced on doing the things their age should not be doing. Here are the list of some crimes and situations that put the children at risk and in danger, and some was totally victims. ***1. Child Labor*** This is way too normal to some countries specially those with higher percentage of poverty. How can it be considered as child labor? It is considered as one if a child was forced to work at the age of 18 below. There are 2.1 million child laborers in the country (Philippines). Isn't it disturbing?
***2. Child Trafficking*** What is child trafficking? It is illegally trafficking children in big cities or neighboring countries to be forced to become domestic helpers and some are being traded in prostitutions or trained to become entertainers. At a very young age, being a victim of exploitative labor operations. This is really unbelievable but it happens in Mindanao which is the child trafficking hotspot because of the armed conflict that has been happening in the area. It has an estimated number of 60,000 to 100,000 children in the Philippines of children involved in prostitution rings.
***3. Victims of Crimes*** Since children of a young age are still vulnerable and weak, they are usually the victims of crimes such as rape and murders. This is disgusting. This is a work of devil. The news about crimes involving children were already circulating online and through broadcast medias.
***We should protect our children, not because they are the future generation but they have the right to be protected. They were young and innocent. I remember watcha documentary on child exploitation and i saw there that some parents are the ones that want to get rid of their children fo cash then in almost all cases, they just abduct the children off the streets. Some of the street children could also be illegal child laborers that were tasked to beg. Some healthier kids were sold to be organ donors, the list went on and I'm never gonna watch that documentary ever again--
Aaaahhh, it's disturbing and I think if I'm the one who watched it, maybe I cried too much. I really have this soft spot for children, or anyone younger than me. They are so precious in my eyes. They should not be getting those treatments, but also we cannot blame poverty and all. The financial crisis is also playing a big role on this social issue. exactly. they needed to be protected as much as possible. they are vulnerable and they have the spotlight on being the victims of crimes
it is but the sad truth..parents should really be very careful in rearing their children to make them a good citizen in the future. while protecting them against abuse.. when we were kids, we used to help our parents at the fields but never termed as child labor because they did not force us to do what we can't but they are extra careful in teaching us how are the things we can is done and we still have more time to play than work.
it will never be considered under child labor since you work with your parents and they have the permission. also, even if you are working at a young age, as long as it is under your parents' sole responsibility, it is not child labor. thank you for sharing your thought about this, i really appreciate that.
