5 Small Lifestyle Changes That Can Help Combat Anxiety
You don’t have to change your life to combat anxiety. Simply start small, and make totally do-able changes to the way you already live.
Anyone who suffers from anxiety knows that there’s no cure for taming the beast that lives inside of you. Sure, there are meditation methods, medication plans, and several other “fixes” that people will suggest, but no one goes to bed with anxiety and wakes up totally rid of it.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that some of the said suggestions don’t hold some validity. Life with anxiety is a marathon, not a sprint. So it’s the little wins along the way that add up to a healthielr you. It’s tools like these small lifestyle changes that you can use to your advantage in the battle against your mind. https://tosavealife.com/health/4-lifestyle-changes-that-will-boost-your-mental-health/
**Here are 5 Small Lifestyle Changes That Can Help Combat Anxiety**
**1. Limit Your Screen Time**
For most of us, reverting to our phones — plparticularly social media — is often an escape from whatever is going on around us. Whether you’re escaping boredom in a doctor’s office or escaping the laundry list of to-do’s that life has thrown at you, too much screen time is a recipe for disaster. Make small decisions each day to help wean you from that unnecessary sensory overload. Silence your phone and put it in a different room while watching Netflix. Trade in your phone alarm for an actual alarm clock and turn your phone off when you go to sleep.
More often than not, what we subconsciously tend to be an escape, turns into a pile of emails, a comparison game of life, and an overwhelming world of anxiety.
**2. Establish a Healthy Bedtime Routine**
This goes hand-in-hand with #1, in that one of the most common things keeping us from a good night’s sleep, is our cell phone. So often, we work late, get home late, eat late, and then in a desperate need to unwind, we binge-watch Netflix while simultaneously scrolling mindlessly through feeds of unnecessary information, until we fall asleep on the couch.
HOW do you expect to attack your day, much less your anxiety, when your nighttime routine is non-existent?
Find healthier methods to unwind. Turn off your phone. Eat your dinner at the kitchen table, get ready for bed before you sit down to relax by washing your face, brushing your teeth, getting comfortable and preparing your body and mind for rest. And then if you must, watch a show or two with your phone turned off, and a limit of two episodes of The Office. Then GET UP from the couch, and GO TO bed.

These subtle changes to your evening can make a world of a difference.
**3. Establish a Healthy Morning Routine**
Wake up with a goal of combatting your anxiety, and start your day off with small lifestyle changes that will help you succeed.
Never underestimate the power of a clean space. Wake up and make your bed first thing in the morning. Not only will you have accomplished something before the day has even gotten started, but you’ve got something to look forward to coming home to.
Stay away from the cell phone — do you notice a common theme here? It can be so easy to roll over to your phone alarm, swipe it off, and immediately open Facebook or your emails. STOP THE MADNESS PEOPLE!! Those emails can wait, and Facebook has nothing but depressing news, baby announcements, and RANDOM videos to show you.
Wake up and make your bed, get yourself ready for the day, and get on your way. I would even challenge you to keep your phone off until you get to the office. It’s safer for driving, safer for your mind, and REFRESHING to the soul.
**4. Get Your Blood Flowing**
Exercising and working out is obviously critical to our physical health, but it also plays a key role in our mental health. You don’t have to join a gym, or add yet another task to your busy day in order to care for your mind though. When you get home at the end of the day, use that time you would normally watch TV to get the blood flowing. Take a walk, go for a jog, hop on the bike, and turn your phone on “Do not disturb.”
It’s amazing how much our physical health is directly related to our mental health. Do this for a week and notice the difference for yourself.
**5. Download a Mental Health App**
I know I know, I’ve spent this entire article preaching how much we should avoid our phones in our quest to combat anxiety. BUT, there’s no denying that our phones are GOOD tools when they’re used in a healthy way.
You don’t have to change your life to combat anxiety. Simply start small, and make totally do-able changes to the way you already live.
How do you combat anxiety on a daily basis?
Thank you for reading everyone! 🙂
A Siargao Itinerary for every type of traveler
I’m going to be straight-up honest with you: Siargao probably isn’t for everyone.
As beautiful and rugged as this tear drop-shaped Filipino island is, going to Siargao is going to take you out of your way. Is it worth it? Well, I’ll let you decide.
The truth is, you’re either going to LOVE Siargao or you’ll feel a little bit ‘meh’ about the island.
Which category you fall into will depend on your own tastes and hobbies.
Below, I’ve listed all the kinds of things you might want to visit for. If any of those sound appealing, you’ll probably love Siargao!
But if you feel kind of indifferent, you want to skip it for somewhere a little busier like **El Nido and Coron**. https://www.alajode.com/the-ultimate-palawan-itinerary-el-nido-coron/
**WHAT TO DO IN SIARGAO**
If you’ve already looked up what to do in Siargao, you’re probably already aware of the island’s main attraction: surfing!
And it would be easy to write off Siargao as a surfer’s paradise that’s a little too out of the way for everyone else.
But there’s more to Siargao than surfing. Admittedly, there’s not a whole lot more, but there are other reasons to visit.
When I was looking for things to do in Siargao, I struggled to find a whole lot. That’s probably because the best thing to do is explore yourself, and that’s what I recommend you to do.
Below are some of the things you might want to weave into your exploration.
**BUILDING A SIARGAO ITINERARY**
These are the main reasons why you might want to visit Siargao. Of course, we’re all individuals and you probably fit into multiple categories.
To build your ideal Siargao itinerary, feel free to mix and match ideas from any of the below.
**IF YOU TRAVEL FOR THE UNIQUE EXPERIENCES… GET A LITTLE LOST.**
A large part of Siargao’s appeal is just how untouched it feels. Much of the island is completely undeveloped, meaning you can get lost easily.
The only way to experience this is by driving deep into the island, and just driving around way my favourite part of Siargao.
There’s basically one main road that goes around the island. It’ll take you through the centre, to the tourist spots and out to the white sand beaches.
Think quiet roads surrounded by layers of coconut trees, occasionally broken up by minute villages and huts. Sounds pretty dreamy, right? Well, that’s because it is!
Filipinos are some of the friendliest people in the world, and they’re usually incredibly happy to chat. Obviously don’t be invasive, but don’t be shy either.
Stop at the local villages you pass and **get to know the people** – it will be one of your best memories. https://www.alajode.com/immersive-travel/
If you want to hire a scooter, you’ll need a driving license in English.
If you don’t have an English language license (or don’t want to drive!), you can also hire a driver for the day. Just ask at your hotel reception or speak to someone on the street.
**IF YOU WANT TO TRY SOMETHING NEW… HIRE A TRICYCLE.**
I really hope more destinations in South East Asia follow suit, but for now Siargao is the only place I know of where you can hire a tricycle.
Not only is it a super fun way to get around, but it’s also incredibly practical!
We chose to rent a scooter because we wanna explore Siargao on our own.
It would also be a great option if you’re travelling as a group because you can fit 4 people comfortably in each one.
**If you love water sports... Go surfing.**
Well, this one goes without saying! But no post about what to do in Siargao would be complete without it.
If you’ve never been surfing, Siargao may just be one of the best places in the world to **take surfing lessons**. https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinaffid=194485&awinmid=5986&p=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tripadvisor.com.ph%2FAttraction_Review-g674645-d14796221-Reviews-Harana_Surf_School-Siargao_Island_Surigao_del_Norte_Province_Mindanao.html
If surfing isn’t your thing, good news: it’s not the only adventurous thing to do.
Wake boarding, snorkelling, kayaking and **diving** are all popular water sports in Siargao, so there’s a way for everyone to enjoy the water. https://www.alajode.com/scuba-diving-in-the-philippines/
Even if you don’t plan to try your hand at water sports, watching the surfers at Cloud 9 is a great way to spend a lazy afternoon.
It costs 50 PHP (about £0.75) to enter the boardwalk and pier, where you’ll get front row views of the action.
**If you love seeing the sights... Book a tour or two.**
Although Siargao doesn’t have as many of the typical tourist sites as other islands in the Philippines, there’s still plenty to do.
There are a few trips that travellers tend to take from Siargao.
Island hopping is one of the best **things to do in the Philippines**, and Siargao has its own island hopping option. You can pick up one of the daily tours once you arrive, and it will take you to Guyan, Daku and Naked islands. https://www.alajode.com/philippines-travel/
It’s also possible to visit Sohoton, the famous caves and Sugba Lagoon as part of the same tour or on a separate day.
If you prefer to stay on the main island of Siargao, visit the Magapupungko rock pool and the island’s only waterfall, Taktak Falls.
A local fruit smoothie with metal straw and recyclable decoration.
If you try to travel responsibly... It's the perfect Philippines Destination.
Something we quickly noticed as we arrived in Siargao is how conscious everybody is of their **environmental impact**. https://www.alajode.com/responsible-tourism/
https://7018c8aec66b461c0a6c2bca4a52aacd.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html
It’s a change that I noticed while living in Cebu too, but it was much more prominent in Siargao.
Shops no longer offer plastic bags. Signs outside some stores advise you to bring your own, with paper bags and cardboard boxes the only other options.
You won’t get a plastic straw in your cocktail when you stop for an afternoon iced coffee. Instead, you can expect a metal straw or simply no straw at all.
And, given Siargao’s **geography** and isolation, you can be sure that almost everything you eat is made from locally sourced ingredients.**F** https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siargao#:~:text=Siargao%20is%20a%20tear%2Ddrop,one%20deep%20inlet%2C%20Port%20Pilar.
**If you want to switch off... Check in to a beach front resort.**
Aside from surfing, there isn’t a whole lot going on in Siargao – but that may be just what you’re looking for.
If you’re looking for an island break that has a **selection of restaurants** but doesn’t feel touristy, you’ll love Siargao. https://www.alajode.com/where-to-eat-in-siargao-philippines/
Most of the resorts sit between the small town of General Luna and the famous Cloud 9 area. Hotels and restaurants line the entire strip, but it’s far from crowded.
Although you’re never more than a kilometre or two from where you want to be, every resort feels like a secluded island getaway. It has that perfect mix of isolation and convenience that most places fail to balance.
Pack a good book and check into one of the beach-facing resorts for a super relaxing break. You can also book into one of the many spas if you feel like getting out and treating yourself.
The WiFi is very unreliable, too, so you can completely switch off.
**If you love photography...**
Siargao is the kind of place that has **lots to photograph**, but it isn’t totally obvious. https://www.cosmo.ph/lifestyle/travel/beautiful-places-siargao-a1139-20180124
If you like a good location hunt as much as you like getting a shot, you’ll love Siargao for **photography**. https://www.alajode.com/travel-photography/
We didn’t see any other photographers in Siargao while we were there. That means you can enjoy scouting and shooting all by yourself, if you do wish.
There are plenty of landscapes to discover, including the impressive coconut tree forests, or you can try your hand at surf photography at Cloud 9.
Like all of the Philippines islands, Siargao obviously looks incredible from the air too. If you own a drone, don’t leave it at home!
Siargao might not be the best island in the Philippines for everyone.
But if you love surfing, healthy living or exploring untouched areas, it could be well worth adding Siargao to your Philippines itinerary.
Five reasons why travel in Bacolod, Philippines
When it comes to tourist destinations, Bacolod seems to be underrated. While everybody rushes to book flights to Boracay, the quiet yet beautiful city of Bacolod remains as it is – quiet and beautiful, waiting for you to come and visit.
Already I can hear you asking, “But what’s so special about Bacolod?” Well, here are five special things about Bacolod that you will not have anywhere else in the Philippines and in the world.
1. **Smiles.**
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Bacolod is called the City of Smiles. People are warmer than the weather, and they will welcome you like they would welcome the President of the Philippines visiting their home. If you want some feel good travel, you should highly consider Bacolod.
2. **Chicken Inasal.**
Hello? This is where all the yummy goodness started! Bacolod prides itself as the birthplace of the now famous chicken inasal. Make sure you visit Manukan Country for some authentic, and really delicious chicken made the Bacolod way.
3. **Mambukal Falls.**
Instead of going to the beach, opt to go to Mambukal Falls, where you can see seven falls! The journey through all the seven falls gets better and better. The last waterfall is huge, and you can swim in the clean waters too!
4. **Masskara Festival.**
Happening every October, Bacolod holds this huge festival complete with a street party where people wear colorful masks and costumes, and dance to lively music. Naturally, airfare and accommodations shoot up for this event, so if you want to experience it, better book as early as you can!
5. **The Ruins.**
When you see this skeleton of a stone house, you would want to have your makeup done and have a photoshoot in it! The Ruins is what remains of a rich family’s house during World War II. Owners of an abundant sugar plantation, they had their land and everything in it burned before the Japanese soldiers could take over and seize their properties. Smart move right there. And now, what remains of the family mansion stands as a tourist spot that will make you feel you’re in Europe.
You don't really have to learn Hiligaynon or Ilonggo for you to appreciate Bacolod and all its beauty. Just take your curious mind and open your heart to all the possibilities. With a laidback atmosphere, kind and warm people, and smiles wherever you go, Bacolod should definitely be on your list of places to visit. Ready to book your Cebu Pacific flight yet? Watch out for seat sales and book as soon as you see a cheap flight!
10 Things You SHOULD Say to Someone Battling Depression
Depression tells you you’re crazy. I went to see a doctor about my depression, and they told me, “We don’t deal with mentally ill people.”
When I struggled with depression, one thing said to me a lot was “I have no idea what to say.” Now that I’m in a better place, I thought it’d be a good time to make a list of 10 things I wish someone had said to me while I was thinking about suicide and battling depression. I’m not a doctor — just a struggling kid with a voice and hope to help. Take it for what it’s worth.
**1. I can’t even imagine what you’re going through.**
I loved hearing this because it meant the person was honest. When I was in the midst of my depression, I didn’t need a doctor to tell me about my problems. I just needed a friend to show me this world still had love, that there was still something worth living for. When my friend told me they didn’t understand, it meant that they didn’t have an agenda other than love. Friends like that keep you alive through the darkest nights.
2. If you want, I’ll go with you.
When someone told me I should get help, it basically affirmed how alone I was in my struggle. Telling someone “Hey, if I found a doctor, would you go with me just to hear what he has to say?” shows them that you’re in it, too. The big lie depression tells you is that you’re alone, so when you make the offer to go with them, you’re showing support and love.
3. I love you.
Not the “happy” them. Not the “funny” them. Not the “successful” or “employed” them. Just them. Exactly how they are.
4. You’re doing awesome.
Celebrate the little things. Sometimes leaving your room when you’re depressed is hard. Sometimes breathing is hard. Celebrate the little things without pushing for more.
5. You make sense.
Depression tells you you’re crazy. I went to see a doctor about my depression, and they told me, “We don’t deal with mentally ill people.” This made me feel highly contagious and untouchable. Truth is, I’m not alone, and neither is anyone else. It’s important to remind people they’re not crazy, that depression is a real thing, that the world is a dark place that can wear on you. It doesn’t mean you stay down, but depression doesn’t have to be some synonym for crazy or unwanted.
6. Sometimes being sad is OK.
Depression can bring a lot of guilt and feelings of failure. Fight this by reminding them that it’s OK to be sad. Our world sucks. People hurt, bad things happen to kind hearts, the innocent are persecuted while wicked people become billionaires … the world is not fair. Now, it’s important to remember this fact may get us down, but it doesn’t have to RUN our lives. Everyone has to find ways to fight through, but there are times where sensitive and compassionate people are going to get depressed for very valid reasons. It’s important to not let them just skip over these emotions. God gave many people deeply compassionate hearts; they shouldn’t have to numb them to avoid being depressed. If a heart doesn’t hurt when it sees tragedy, how can it truly acknowledge and love beauty?
7. Thank you for telling me you’re struggling.
Confessing sucks. Make a big deal out of how awesome it is they trusted you enough to tell you, because guess what? It is a big deal. If they feel like their confession meant a lot to you, they’ll be more comfortable doing it in the future when things go bad again—and it could save their lives.
8. God loves us in all emotions.
There were times when I felt like I wasn’t a “good Christian” because I was battling depression. Lies like “If you loved Jesus, you wouldn’t be so sad” and “You’re wasting God’s gift of life” filled my head and made me feel like more of a failure. God loves me in my depression. My life was never “mine” to save. The cross took that burden. I’m not a failure; I’m a struggling human just like everyone else who is free from the guilt of Satan. Any burden I put on myself to perform or “just do it” isn’t from God.
9. Will you try?
This seems simple, but I felt a lot of people telling me to go do things and what would work, which put so much pressure on me. What if it didn’t work? One way people get help is through counseling — well, I’ve had some BAAAAAD counselors. Does that mean I’m just too depressed for help? Counselors are people who make mistakes, too. Asking people to just try things means it’s OK if it doesn’t work; we’ll just try something else. “Are you willing to try…” is more likely to get a “yes” than “You know you should do…”.
10. Depression isn’t the same for everyone.
This meant I was free to be unique in my struggles. Depression is such a weird disease, and it looks different from person to person, so it’s OK if something worked for them and not for me. Acknowledging the mystery of depression freed me from expecting a quick fix and being disappointed.
Just like people battling depression, the people trying to help them need and deserve grace, too. It’s tough, and it’s hard to be an advocate. Make sure you have emotional support, as well, someone to cheer you on as you try and help your friend out of depression. The end goal isn’t to “fix” someone but to encourage them to use the experience as fuel for a functioning and healthy lifestyle. Sometimes meds help, sometimes counselors do the trick; as I said, I’m not a doctor, and I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all cure, but there is Jesus. He loves you, He fights for you and He grieves with you and your struggling friends. It may not cure anything, but it does give us endless hope — and that’s worth fighting for.

Standing Strong When You’re Misunderstood - Breaking the inner mental illness stigma within you
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
Stigma is the glass ceiling that keeps people from getting the help, understanding and support they need. Stigma is often the source of conflict and hurt within relationships, especially between those with mental illness and their loved ones. Stigma and lack of understanding are the two most common frustrations I hear from people living with mental illness — a frustration I also share.
One out of five adults in the United States and all over the Globe currently live with a mental illness, yet disorders such as “depression” and “PTSD” are not thought of in the same way as cancer or diabetes. If an athlete has constant pain in their foot, or pulls a muscle during competition, most likely they will seek treatment from athletic trainers or team doctors. Why is it then, that if an athlete has panic attacks, suicidal thoughts or is struggling with eating they are less likely to get help? What about mental illness makes people feel shame and want to hide — or at the opposite extreme — judge and criticize others? https://tosavealife.com/suicide/michael-phelps-was-a-train-wreck-contemplating-suicide-until-someone-handed-him-this-book/ https://tosavealife.com/mental-health/michale-phelps-extremely-thankful-did-not-take-life/
I believe there are many myths that contribute to this stigma against mental illness. For example, some may think having depression means a person is sad all the time, and while feeling sad or down is certainly a symptom of depression, this disorder also affects your energy level, your ability to think, focus, and engage with others. In more severe cases, it is difficult to even do daily activities such as shower, eat or get dressed.
Another common myth is the belief that depression is something one can just “snap out of” — which is completely false. A person cannot will themselves out of depression or anxiety anymore than a person can will themselves out of a cold. People fail to understand that mental illness is just as much biological as it is emotional.
Empirical studies have proven that many people living with a mental illness have chemical imbalances in the brain. For example, a common link to depression is having low serotonin (a hormone that contributes to positive mood and energy) levels in the brain. This kind of information is abundant and easily accessible, particularly via the internet. If people take the time to learn important information about mental health, many of these common myths would be dispelled.
Nothing makes a person feel more isolated than being surrounded by people who are unable to empathize with their struggle. It can be even more difficult trying to help others understand thoughts and feelings you yourself may not even understand.
How do you explain the unexplainable, even to the people who love and care about you? Of course, there are also the thoughts or feelings you have that you are ashamed of and confident will lead to judgment and rejection from others.
I can tell you from experience that in addition to the mental illness itself, these barriers can make any person overwhelmed. Fear of vulnerability can lead to misunderstanding, causing a person to be even less willing to open up, which only exasperates the mental illness they are trying to hide. This is the downward spiral that has stolen life, joy and vitality from so many people.
So as an athlete, what can you do if you receive little to no understanding or empathy from your coach or teammates? What do you do after graduation if you face the harsh reality of stigma in the workplace? While no easy answer exists in response to these questions, here are some steps we can take to be more equipped to handle these difficult and often painful conflicts.
**Educate others who are ignorant about mental illness**
Often times people’s poor response to mental struggles are not a function of not caring; rather, people are usually simply uneducated. A person cannot understand what they do not know. Of course, you will need to make sure you understand your mental illness in order to explain it to others, so make sure you begin with educating yourself first by doing research online or talking to a mental health professional. When talking with others, try to be clear and concise with what you are saying, and leave room for questions. And show them grace as they try to understand what you tell them.
**Seek support from others**
In Genesis 2:18, God tells us it is not good for us to be alone. It is not his desire for us to be isolated from other people. If you are seeking empathy and understanding from others, you will most likely receive it from people who are struggling in the same way you are. Find environments where you are surrounded by people who truly understand the difficulty of living with mental illness, folks who will not judge or criticize you no matter what you share. I believe the best place to find this is in group therapy or support groups for people living with mental illness. I have found it so much easier to be vulnerable in group settings like these, and have even gotten good feedback for how to handle challenging situations that have come up. https://www.sermoncentral.com/bible/new-international-version-niv/genesis-2-18?passage=Genesis+2%3A18
**Keep moving forward**
There is a term in psychology called “radical acceptance,” which means to accept what we cannot change or control. The reality is, there might be people you encounter who will never understand mental illness or will always have a negative bias towards it, which is painful and hard to accept.
However, you cannot control what others think, and that is something you will need to accept even though you do not like it. In order to fight stigma and bring real change, we have to be ready to face criticism and judgment and move forward in spite of it. Of course, if on your team or at your job you feel you are being discriminated against because you have a mental illness, you do not have to accept that. Do not be afraid to fight for your rights and enlist help from someone who will be an advocate for you (i.e. a counselor, academic advisor, the Human Resources department at work, etc.).
Even though we cannot control how others think, there is a difference between control and influence. By educating others, sharing our experiences and advocating for our rights, we can influence how people think about mental health, which will lead to change. Creating change is like swimming upstream — it is difficult and exhausting. It is never easy to be vulnerable with others, but personal testimony is often what keeps their attention and leaves them wanting to learn more.
The Lord knows how hard it is to face opposition from others. Jesus was crucified because his teachings were so radical and controversial. He came to change the world and bring us back to himself, and he accomplished that when he rose from the grave. If you believe this and surrender your life (including your battle with mental illness and stigma), you have a new identity as a child of God which can bring so much joy! This joy gives us strength (Isaiah 40:31) even when facing judgment from others. https://www.sermoncentral.com/bible/new-international-version-niv/isaiah-40-31?passage=Isaiah+40%3A31
Also know that there is hope. Change is happening as more people are becoming more aware of mental health and more willing to join the fight against stigma. We have made progress, but still have a long way to go. Even though stigma hurts, it will not destroy you. God has a purpose and plan for your life, and you will always be covered, protected and loved by Him. Remember His promises, and you will experience the hope and peace found only in Him.
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Best Summer Destinations in Cebu, Philippines - based on my travel experience
Summer has finally made its debut! Look and feel at your surroundings. Have you noticed the rise in temperature? How about the rise of your electric bills due to increase electric consumption (aircon/electric fan). Have you noticed people wearing shades in different shapes and sizes? Or perhaps you have noticed difficulty in booking your favorite beaches or resorts. All of these are indications that summer has finally kicks off!
Summer is my/our much awaited season in the Philippines. I am pretty sure you would agree with me. This is the only time of the year where students take a break/vacation from school and freely do cool things summer has to offer. Basking under the sun in a white sand beach is the most popular activity during this season. So break out those bikinis/swimsuits/shorts, slather on sunblocks and show off those bodies you've been working so hard in the gym.
Here are some of best **summer destinations in Cebu** you can enjoy.
**1. Beaches**
Cebu has a number of beaches that can be prime destinations to cool off the summer heat. Either you'll go north or southern part of Cebu you will never run out of beach to go to. In northern Cebu is where the beautiful Bantayan and Camotes Island is located. Also in the north of Cebu is where you can find the famous diving spot due to sightings of thresher sharks - Malapascua Island. If you do not want to go beyond the mainland of Cebu, San Remegio and Tabuelan (Maravilla or Durhan Beach). In the southern part of Cebu, Tingko Beach is the perfect choice because of its white sand and turquoise blue water. If you want to go farther Lambug Beach in Badian is also a good choice for summer getaway. Here you can expect a less crowd compare to Moalboal which is also a good diving spot in Cebu because of its rich marine life and gorgeous reef.
**2. Waterfalls**
Waterfalls like the beach also offer a spectacular summer experience. Kawasan Falls is the most famous among the waterfalls in Cebu. The turquoise blue water in its basin enhanced the beauty of Kawasan Falls. It also has 3 layers and half of the pleasure is trekking up to the main water source. This waterfall is about 3-4 hours from the city and is located approximately 1.5 kilometers from the hi-way. Some waterfalls in Cebu that is also worth visiting are the following: In Samboan (Aguinid Falls, Binalayan, and Dao), Ginatilan (Inambakan Falls), Mantayupan falls of Barili, Kabang Falls in Budlaan Talamban and Tumalog Falls of Oslob. http://www.pordoypalaboy.com/2012/09/budlaan-river-trekking-to-kabang-budlaan-falls.html
**3. Osmena Peak/Mountains in Cebu**
Also in the southern part of Cebu is where its highest peak lies. Osmena Peak is situated in barangay Mantalongon, Dalaguete Cebu and the peak stands proudly at 1000+ MASL. Dalaguete is known as the vegetable basket of the province because of its favorable weather for planting. The town celebrates "Utanon Festival" every 9th and 10th of February which is a form of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. Another highlight in climbing Osmena Peak is its rugged peak. At the peak the fantastic view of the mountain ranges plus the islets (Badian and Pescador) would certainly delight your senses. If you want to visit Osmena Peak and got no idea how to get there, here is a detailed Osmena Peak guide I previously wrote. Note: Osmena Peak can be crowded at times especially during the weekends where Cebuano campers converge in this mountain. There are several mountains in Cebu you can climb for your summer adventure getaway. http://www.pordoypalaboy.com/2011/11/guide-in-climbing-osmena-peak.html http://www.pordoypalaboy.com/2012/12/mountains-in-cebu-to-climb-for-big-adventure.html
**4. Cold Springs**
In a time where stress is just almost everywhere, we need to find a way to detoxify ourselves and cleanse our body and soul. Dipping into natural springs is a great way to regenerate. If you do not want to go far from the city, Uragay Spring or Durano Eco Farm is the nearest cold spring from Cebu city. Other options include Mantawihan and Molobolo Spring in Tuburan, Cambuhawe spring in Balamban, Binaliw Spring in Sogod, and Guiwanon Spring in Tabogon, Cebu.
So there you go...That's just some of my travel experienced to my beloved place, CEBU CITY. Indeed we have a lot of options to choose for our summer getaway. This only shows that there is no need for us Cebuanos to go beyond our province to experience summer.
Ciao,

Working from home is no different than going to the office. Get up on time, hop on your work desk at the time, work with integrity, contribute and become productive, and close the door and work till official hours end.

What truly more important in Life
Happy Friday!
During idle time, I try to reflect and think about the things going on around me. Here are a few of them which may probably help you realize what is truly more important in life.
1. Over the years, I always got pressured in inviting people who cared less about me and who I cared less as well. I give in and try to always relate, genuinely. However, I realized that it's okay not to spend time with people who don't matter to you. It is better than spending time with people who bad mouth you at your back. 😁
Make sure to always surround yourself with people who make you bloom and can grow with you positively. Life isn't about entertaining everyone, but being real with those who genuinely care for you. And even if you have people you cared less, always remember that it gives you no license to malign them. Be real but never become toxic. ALWAYS Keep your circle small and REAL. Remember that it is difficult to spot what is real with a TWO-FACED person.
2. I always felt that when you point out something and disagree, people always feel that you dislike and disrespect them. This is the stigma that I hope we can overcome in due time. Let's re-learn that when you disagree with someone, it doesn't mean hating him or her. It means you are listening and you want to be heard too.
3. Being faithful-- to those you love. Social media is never a medium that helps us say that one is faithful and loyal to his or her friends, partner. Don't be deceived.
I have seen someone who posts so much about his or her partner on Facebook and IG but unfortunately is trying to pursue someone else. It is sad, scary and disappointing. If you are guilty of this, it is never too late to be true to yourself and to the one you are with.
Don't be scared to hurt someone with the truth because pain heals but when you cheat on someone-- a friend or a partner, you scar him or her forever.
4. Getting out of your comfort zone. I have always been afraid and always tries to maintain status quo especially with my personal life. But they say, great things never come from comfort zones. So, I stopped being afraid and I have never been this happy. So you can try it too! 😁
5. Treat everyone right- even those who are not at your level. My eyes have seen so many people treating others better because they are the same or higher than them. It sickens me to see how people can treat you because of your status.
Treat everyone with kindness--not because they are kindhearted, but because you are. One of the greatest gifts we can give another is kindness. If someone is in need, lend a helping hand. Don't do it only for the people you like and respect--that's easy--but also for the ones who drive you crazy and those you don't even know. True kindness lies in the act of giving without the expectation of getting something in return.
Life is about helping each other up, not bringing others down so you can succeed. Remember, everyone has a story. Everyone has inner battles and issues. Withhold judgment and instead offer the consideration you'd like to receive.
6. Lastly, Appreciate those who have supported you, forgive those who have hurt you, help those who need you. Business is complicated, life is complex, and leadership is difficult. Treat all people--including yourself--with love and compassion, and you can't go wrong.
Treat people the way you want to be treated and life will instantly get better. ❤
Rumbling thoughts. What are you most grateful for in life?
Rumbling thoughts. WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN LIFE?
There are so many things that I'd like to write but I don't know where to start. There are also so many ideas running through my mind that I wish I could express but I couldn't. Today, I will make an exception and try to talk about UNCERTAINTY.
They say, change is inevitable. With COVID 19, it allowed us to experience what uncertainty is. Just like death, no matter how it is a normal process that could happen to any of us, it still scares most of us and will most likely place us in a very unexpected situation. Death is still a taboo that we don't always talk about. This is the same with uncertainty. Let's be honest, majority of us never prepare for uncertain things. Our intellect always craves for certainty and clarity. This is human nature.
So with the things going on around us, this uncertainty really changed how we live our lives today.
Do you know anyone who struggled to apply for a job and feels like a mess because he or she could never get one? Do you have friends or loved ones who lost their jobs because their companies crumbled down? Do you know anyone who suddenly changed his or behavior because this pandemic caused them their mental wellbeing? Do you know anyone who lost his or her interest on anything and could never figure out how to have it back? Do you know any family that have been struggling even before this pandemic and who's on the verge of giving up because their situation worsened? Do you have a sick friend or a loved one who continue to struggle and fight to survive? Do you have plans put to a halt because it is no longer possible to go on? Do you have friends and loved ones whose lives were cut short because of COVID 19?
There are a lot more things to notice, you just got to open your eyes to the reality that there are really those that are suffering--Physically, financially, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. There also those that suffer silently. Remember no suffering is better than the other because every suffering is difficult. And suffering is painful.
At times, I feel so bad for feeling bad on so little things while others suffer and struggle. Who am I to complain? This gives me a perspective to be grateful and to hope that this uncertainty bring me somewhere that could make me better as a human being.
My point? I hope people become humans to others. We all suffer differently so it never hurts to be kind and sensitive to the plight of others.
If you feel that you are in a hole and couldn't go out, I will pray for you. Life must be so tough. If you are suffering, I hope you find hope. If you believe in God, I pray you continue to have faith in HIM. If you crave for a job, I will pray that you will meet an interviewer that will see something in you and will give you a chance. If you are sick, I pray for your healing. If you are suffering, I hope you find the courage to continue to survive. We may not be exactly where we want to be, but we're not where we used to be. And I hope we can live this part of our journey as fully and gratefully as possible.
If you have reached this part of my blabber, thank you for hearing my thoughts. I hope that in your busy life, you take a moment to ask yourself how your life has changed since this pandemic began and maybe just maybe, you can already honestly answer this simple question:
WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR IN LIFE?
To my TOGTA (The One That Got Away)
In another life
I would be your girl
We'd keep all our promises
Be us against the world
In another life
I would make you stay
So I don't have to say you were
The one that got away
The one that got away...
I hope you are doing fine. You are still the person that I do always admire with. I know I made mistake for losing us, YOU. All I pray is for you to achieve your goals in life. I hope maybe someday we may see each other.
