The Prodigal Son

**Have you ever heard of this story ? I know all of us here experience to become a son and daughter. I have a question for you, are you the son/daughter who loves your parents so much ? or are you the son/daughter who dislikes the way your parents teaches and discipline you. This story will help you to inculcate something that will make you a better person for being a parent or being a son/daughter to your parents.** This story is written on the bible in the Book of "Luke 15:11-32" It is a parable that Jesus teaches the people. Lets start. The parable of the prodigal son begins with the father who has two sons and there came a time the youngest son ask his father to give his share of the estate. The father executes the sons request by dividing the property between them and gives it to his youngest son.  The youngest son then packs together all of his belongings and leaves his father’s home to live in a distant country. **“The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them” Luke 15:12.** During the son's time away from his father's home. He lived his life wasting his fortune, living an immature and wild life without noticing that he has lost his life and his money. The son lived this way until a famine hits the country and he has no money left from his inheritance, he lost his friends, his loved once in short he lost his entire life. He wonders to go back to his father but he thought he had disowned him for his actions regarding his inheritance and his departure. Therefore, the son is forced to work as a swineherd feeding pigs, he works there for years with no enough money to buy a decent food to eat, he sometimes wonder to eat the pigs repulsive grub. At this time the son hits rock bottom and he finally realize that he need his father, he thought that he will accept all the anger of his father to him and decided to start his journey back home. Once the son is nearly at his father's home, His father sight him at far and immediately the father runs to him and hug him tightly crying because of joy that his son came back. The son realize that he was wrong about thinking his father might be very angry for what he did to his inheritance. He kneeled at his father crying to forgive him for what he had done, but his dad was too excited that he called for his servants to prepare a celebration for his son with fine clothing and a fattened calf.  This response was nothing the son had imagined when returning back home. Eventually the ears of the elder brother picked up the chaos as he returned to his father’s home after working in the fields all day, and he was not impressed with the situation.  The elder brother actually became very angry that his father was celebrating the return of his brother when his brother left on poor circumstances. He felt his younger brother should have been shunned like many others, he should be disgrace by his father for what he did. The elder brother asked his father for the purpose of the festivities when his younger brother disrespected their father and him, the older brother. But the father simply response this word to his older son, **‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours.  But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found’” Luke 15:31-32.** **Spiritual Message of the story:** The father in this story is our dear Lord, and we are his son's/daughters whom he loves so much. God gave us the freedom to chose what path we would take on this journey of life. Whether we will chose to be away from him and live our life wasting it on this cruel world. He will always be thinking of you, waiting that you'd come back someday and leave this cruel world to glorify his name. Always remember God is crying when you are in times of despair, he always cares about you. He would be very happy seeing you coming back at him. Maybe right now we are lost in the middle of our journey but I really hope that someday you will find yourself with God. As a child we need to be a role model of a good son/daughter to our parents, I know sometimes parents are hard to understand but always remember parents wants the best for you a better version of yourself. Being a parent is a big responsibility so we need to teach our children being close to God because being close to him leads them to a correct path it will be their guide if they lost their way and I know they will be found just like the story.
