It's used to create short music, lip-sync, dance, comedy, n talent videos of 3-15 seconds, n short looping videos of 3-60 seconds.

It was developed by ByteDance, released on september 2016 n stable released was 31st of march 2020 n availabled in 40 languages n the initial released was on september 2016, 3 years ago n was released worldwide after merging with Musical.ly on 2nd of august 2018.

The news on 24 Oras last night by Vicky Morales saying that there's a speculation that Twitter n TikTok is negotiating about merging together, before, i just watched my workmate do some dance videos on TikTok n now, i wonder what would it look like or what would it be if the merging of this two take effect or happens, now, i'm a little excited n curious about it.
