Superheroes

My teaching prowess continues, and today we had a great and fun activity. After identifying the different kinds of feelings, the kids activity this morning was to draw a symbol that represents their superpower. I explained to them that superheroes like them don not need to be like wonderwoman and spiderman. To help them, I asked what they usually do at home and from there I got the idea of the things, shape or symbol that best fit them. Pupil number one (1) is JM, he said he usually help his mom doing some house chores like fixing his toys and also he helps his grandpa feeding the chicken. And so I thought of drawing his hands as he usually uses his hands in helping them. Then after tracing his hands, I allow him to color whatever he chooses and he picked the purple one. Pupil number two (2) is Yuri, my daughter. She said she usually takes care of his cousin Jac and she teaches him how to dance, sing, learn the ABC's because she loves her cousin. And so I thought that a heart shape will be her superpower symbol.

After some photo op, I asked them to show their capes to their grandparents who are having some chitchat just near us. They explain why they chose those symbols. They even run and raise their hands like real superheroes as they approach their grannies. They did not remove their capes until we finished our lesson for this day. I think their capes do some magic because they behaved and participated well in our activities which is good. JM called himself as the Helpful Boy and Yuri as Loving Girl. So simple yet has a deeper meaning to the kids. In todays activity, my key takeaway is that we don't need to be famous or to do something extravagant to be superheroes. Anyone can be a superhero, you and me is eligible. Just by being a good person, a responsible citizen and a loving son or daughter. If we make use of our talent, time and treasure for a good cause, in helping and reaching out to our neighbors who are in need; big or small, these are acts of a real superhero. We may not have a famous title but surely it has a great impact to our character as a person and to the people around us. Who needs any other title when we already have our names right? So are you a superhero? ...^•^... Thanks for reading! Keep smiling. Keep inspiring. `Photos are all taken by yours truly`.
