Good morning with these two beautiful specimens of mine. Euphorbia milii (crown of thorns, Christ's plant, Christ's thorn) is a species of flowering plant in the milkweed family (Euphorbiaciae), originally from Madagascar. It is suspected that this plant species was introduced to the Middle East in ancient times, and the legend connects it with the crown of thorns worn by Christ. The plant was also found in Kerala, India. There is a story that states that there were Jews who lived in Kerala and they brought the Jesus thorn plant from Israel to India. The Latin name "milli" of this plant was given after Baron Milius, the governor of the island of Bourbon, who brought the thorn of Jesus to France in 1821. Why the thorn of Christ or the crown of thorns? This is associated with a legend that says that the crown of thorns worn by Jesus Christ at the time of his crucifixion was made from the stem of this plant. Jesus' thorn plant is a succulent climbing shrub, growing up to 1.8 m tall, with densely thorny stems. Straight, thin thorns, up to 3 cm long, will help climb this plant over other plants. The leaves are mostly on new shoots, light green in color, up to 3.5 cm long and 1.5 cm wide. The flowers are small, composed of a pair of conspicuous petal-like bracts, alternating red, pink or white, up to 12 mm wide. The plant juice is moderately poisonous and causes irritation in contact with the skin or eyes. If swallowed, it causes severe stomach pain, throat and mouth irritation and vomiting. The poison contains 5-deoxyingenol. The plant of Christ's thorn blooms throughout the year, but most often from early spring to late summer. The flowers of this plant are actually bracts, which are red in their original form, and by growing, pink, yellow and white flowers were also obtained.

A flower needs the sun to become a flower, a man needs love to become a man.
