Some surprising experiences with GPU mining of the past weeks: depending on the coin, you can get very significant differences in power consumption! II naively thought that the GPUs will be running full throttle and so the power consumed would be independent of the coin, but this is not at all the case. Mtp algorithm mining (eg for the Firo coin) is much more power-hungry than Ethash (for ETH): for my 3 card setups I have between 18 and 68 Watt power gain when I switch from Firo to Eth. Biggest impact observed is for 1080Ti. So check your power consumption, make some tests and measurementns and optimize your rig! By switching I now gain 25 USD per month just in electricity savings.
