The annunciation of the birth of Jesus Christ
God made preparation for the birth of Jesus Christ because He wanted to save the world from sin through him(JESUS CHRIST).
From the the Adam and Eve till the coming me Jesus Christ, man had continued to sin against God and select His kingdom(His rule in man's heart). Man's sin had separated him from God. Man needed forgiveness of sins so that the good relationship between him and God would be restored. He also needed deliverance from the power of sin(the evil influence of the devil) so that God's kingdom and His righteousness would be restored to him to have the spiritual strength to establish peace, justice, righteousness and good government in the world.
In the Old Testament, God pen the prophet Isaiah to announce to birth of Jesus. Isaiah prophesied the birth of the Saviour, saying:
" Behold, a young woman (VIRGIN) shall conceive and bear a son, And his name shall be called Emmanuel (which means God is with us)."
The name of the saviour would be: Emmanuel. 'Emmanuel' is a Hebrew name and it means: "God is with us". God is with us through Jesus Christ to forgive ur our sins, give us the power to overcome temptation to sin, and the spiritual strength to do what we cannot do by our own effort.
The announcement of the birth of Jesus in the New Testament( Matthew 1: 22-23 and Luke 1: 28-33). In the New Testament, the announcement of the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ was made by God through the angel Gabriel. The angel Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus Christ to Mary.
Mary was a young Jewish woman who lived with her parents in Nazareth, a small city in Galilee. She was a virgin and was righteous before God. She was engaged to be married to Joseph, a man from the house of David. One day, as she was alone in her room, Angel Gabriel came to her to announce the birth of Jesus Christ through her saying ' Hail, O favoured one, the Lord is with you'.
But Mary did not understand why Angel Gabriel should address her in that manner. She was therefore worried. Angel Gabriel say her anxiety and said to her: "Do not be afraid Mary, for you have found favour with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever and of his kingdom there will be no end".
Mary asked Angel Gabriel how she could give to Jesus when she was not yet married to Joseph. The Cohet assured her that she would conceive by the Holy Spirit.
" The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you, therefore the child to be born will be called Holy, the Son of God".
Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit, as the Angel had said. As room Joseph and Mary were married and she came to live with her husband, Joseph discovered that she had already conceived. He was not happy about it. He thought that Mary had been unfaithful to him. Therefore, he decided to divorce her quietly so that no one would know about it. This was because he was a just man and did not want to disgrace her.
In the night, Angel Gabriel appeared to Joseph in a dream and explained everything to him:
' Joseph, son of david, do not dear to take Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit, she will bear a son and you shall call him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins'.
The Angel the said what was happening was the fulfillment of the prophecy of Isaiah: ' Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and his name shall be called Emmanuel ( which means: GOD IS WITH US)'.
When Joseph woke up from hips dream, he did what the Angel of God had said. He was sorry about the action he had wanted to take against Mary. He looked after her from that time onwards.
The nature of Mary's pregnancy and the meaning and significance of the virgin birth: From the account in Matthew's Gospel, it is clear that Mary's pregnancy was the result of the Holy Spirit working within Mary's body. Thus, the 'immateriel' ( The Holy Spirit of God) and 'material' (Mary's Womb) were both involved.
The involvement of the Holy Spirit in the birth of Jesus shows that Jesus was not born in sin, he had no sin nature. The 'sin nature' is passed down from generation to generation through the father. The 'Virgin Birth' by passed the transmission of the 'sin nature' and allowed the eternal God (HOLY SPIRIT) to become a perfect man. Therefore, the Virgin Birth made it possible for the Incarnation of God through Jesus to save mankind. JESUS AND I LOVES YOU.
GOD BLESS YOU.

Joseph shows mercy
Joseph was a destined to be a leader. This was manifested in the two dreams which he had. But His brothers, jealous of Joseph's good fortune, sold him into slavery in Egypt. In Egypt, he rose to become the governor. In this capacity, he was not only God-fearing, but also demonstrated leadership qualities of discipline, hardwork, responsibility and accountability. Joseph decided to forgive his brother. He was also magnanimous in reconciling with his brothers, who had sold him into slavery when they came to Egypt to buy food.
Leadership has to do with the ability and capability to guide, protect and motivate a group of people so as to bring the best out of them for the lurpose of improving their spiritual life, moral and material status. It calls for certain Sterling qualities which the leader must possess in order to achieve these objectives. These qualities include fear of God, honesty, faithfulness, loyalty, courage, accountability, dedication to duty, selfless service, self sacrifice, magnanimity, patriotism, hardworking and exemplary living.
Some of the leaders of ancient Israel such as Joseph, Moses, Joshua and Deborah demonstrated these leadership qualities in varying degrees. They are presented to us as role models so that we might learn good leadership qualities from them, in order to practice such to save our people from ignorance, poverty, disease and also from spiritual and moral decadence. Having learnt these good leadership qualities, we would then be in a better position to choose or vote for the right people who would become the leaders of our various countries in the world in Future
Joseph's two dreams meant that he was destined tobbe a great man. But he was not boastful about it. He merely informed his family about it. We must imbibe the quality of humility displayed by Joseph at this early age.
Joseph's brothers in an attempt to derail the destiny of Joseph sold him into slavery. This is bad. A family is supposed to stand by any member who shows promises Joseph
Bt to destroy him. We must learn to support all those who show prospects in life and not to seek their downfall. We should not be envious or jealous of others. As a boy, Joseph was God-fearing and law abiding. Even when he was Sold to slavery and later became the slave to Potiphar, he never yielded to temptation. Potiphar's wife wanted Joseph to lay in bed with her. And because Joseph was God-fearing and law abiding, he overcame this temptation, by refusing to commit adultery. Not to commit adultery is one of the ten commandments. To be good leaders, we must be God fearing and law abiding and be able to overcome temptation, which Joseph displayed.
Still as a boy, Joseph was righteous. Even when he was put in jail for overcoming Potiphar's wife temptation to lie with her, he didn't mind going to jail. Leadership roles require righteousness, even if we are to suffer for being righteous. This is one significant aspect of why Joseph was sold into slavery so that such leadership qualities can be exhibited even before he became the governor of Egypt.
Leadership qualities showed by Joseph
A. Humility: He showed humility in that he was not boastful about the prospects of becoming a leader in the future
B. Obedience: Joseph was an obedient child since no act of disobedience was reported against him.
The Significance of Joseph as Governor of Egypt
As the governor of Egypt, Joseph displayed sterling qualities of leadership worthy of emulation by national leaders. He led by example. Joseph did not delegate authority to subordinates, but personally went to the fields to supervise the planting, harvesting and building of storage facilities. He also supervised the sale of food to eliminate fraud and favouritism and gguaranteed fair and equitable distribution to all. In all this, Joseph demonstrated qualities of discipline, devotion to duty, hhardwork, responsibility and accountability. He was also Godfearing. This quality enabled him to place the interest of Egypt far above his own. He committed himself totally to the nation's welfare.
Now what can you learn from this?
1. Great concern for others.
Joseph was concerned for the consequences of seven years of famine and suggested remedy to save the situation.
2. Discipline, hhardwork, responsibility & accountability
Joseph combined all these qualities in leading the people to store surplus gain against the famine.
