I want to highly recommend to you episode #23 of The Bitcoin Cash Podcast with Marc De Mesel discussing the early years of cryptocurrency, investing, Noise.Cash, John McAfee and more. Early birds find it at https://noise.cash/post/10kj42xq and if you find this post in five days from now, look at https://bitcoincashpodcast.com Here is some part I transcribed from 1:42:27 But could not somebody just make another (bit)coin? [..] Yes, anybody can! But doesn't that mean that it has no value? No, that actually proves that the existing currencies are pretty strong. Why? Because YOU could start your own one. And you can start it tomorrow. And what would happen? Would anybody want it? You will have to convince people. It is not that you can't create another one. It is that the value is not necessarily just in making a new coin. It is that the proving grounds of something actually gaining acceptance and getting people buy into the idea! When you are buying crypto currency really what you are buying is a share in a community. And that is why the sort of interpersonal exchange aspect is most important. If there is a lot of people trading to exchanges, but they are just trying to cash in and out of the ecosystem, that is way less relevant then people trying to trade within the ecosystem. Because ultimately, and now with the Internet, you can actually do that. Where people can be making trades amongst themselves. You don't need to have a strong group in one physical location. You don't need to have a critical mass. Obviously that would be helpful and that would be great. But we can create a whole economy separate from the fiat currency or from other crypto currencies just internally. #BitcoinCash
