Rather by accident, we discovered a launcher for Linux and MacOS thanks to Pop!_OS and its Pop!_Shop (Flatpak Software Manager). But how does it work on other platforms with the version selection, such as Windows, Xbox, Switch? We like to play with friends, but for that everyone has to have the appropriate version ready on their own device. On an Android, I tested this and only find the option to update to the latest version in Google's Playstore. I wish to find a way how it is possible in the f-droid.org app store to select the installation version on my own. But if that's not a given for Android, what about all the other platforms you play on? We have plenty of experience with the Java version. There, the handling with the versions is self-evident, because there is the launcher. Other open questions and hurdles are: - Playing is unfortunately only possible with a Google account. After all, an account where the Android version has been paid once is enough to play together with several players. - If the launcher is installed manually via Flatpak (link below), it can be decided to run it via the system manager/superuser. Eher zufällig haben wir dank Pop!_OS und dessen Pop!_Shop (Flatpak Software-Manager) einen Launcher für Linux und MacOS entdeckt. Doch wie läuft es auf anderen Platformen mit der Versionsauswahl, wie beispielsweise bei Windows, Xbox, Switch? Wir wollen gern mit Freunden spielen, doch dafür muss jeder auf dem eigenen Gerät die passende Version bereit halten. Auf einem Android habe ich das getestet und finde im Playstore von Google nur die Möglichkeit, auf die neuste Version zu aktualisieren. Ich wünschte einen Weg zu finden, wie es im f-droid.org App-Store möglich ist, die Installations-Version selbst auszuwählen. Doch wenn das schon für Android nicht selbstverständlich ist, wie ist das mit all den anderen Platformen, auf denen ihr spielt? Wir haben ja reichlich Erfahrung mit der Java-Version. Da ist das Handling mit den Versionen wie selbstverständlich, weil es den Launcher gibt. Weitere offene Fragen und Hürden sind: - Spielen geht leider nur mit Google-Account. Immerhin reicht ein Account, in dem die Android-Version einmal bezahlt wurde, um gemeinsam mit mehreren Spielern zu spielen. - Wenn der Launcher von Hand über Flatpak installiert wird (Link unten), kann entschieden werden, ihn über den Systemverwalter/superuser zu installieren. Den Umweg hätte ich mir gern erspart, damit das nicht passiert.
