Did you guys always know what you want to do in your life? I'm 23 and I still have no clue what I'd like to do, like a career, I mean. My only passion is art, but I can't make money with that (I'm no Picasso, lol) and it seems like I can't do anything else. I feel like everyone around me knows, except me :( Because of this I'm really worried. My school will end next summer and I can't imagine myself finding a job and everything. Will I end up in retail and be unhappy for the rest of my life? (nothing wrong with retail, I did it, but I feel like it's not for me.) (just some late night thoughts) #RandomThoughts

Great thoughts for late night! Don't worry, solutions will come. And spoiler ahead> nobody knows sh1t > They know as much... just to feel right... I'm 36 (thanks June!) and although I have a path (I think), I'm stucked and at the lowest point of my life.... So I'm doing the same method of asking myself at the end of university... what now? What did I learned from this? As I realized, people are experts in other people's life, and this is logical. A system - sorry, let's be light and conversational with a coffee, shall we? > so, a thing is more visible from the outside than from the inside... at least it's quite different. The inside is where the magic happens, the outside is what well, just happens something. Asking first what you clearly don't want as you already did it's half of the work... seriously! Because you learned that you don't want to make a career at retail, and this gave a direction. You can't make money with your art, YET! But you are in good direction forward and you can experiment! I see quite some opportunities there: seeing only a couple of your drawings ... as you Noised about them.... I see a pattern of this dark, grunge, moody, gothic kind of vibe with a splash of vibrant colours which is great- and with this, I don't want to box your work into a category, just to emphasis what you come naturally from you. The shapes, faces are quite interesting - and as far as I remember I already mentioned this to you.... these are quite good illustrations. The EDGE project is another interesting story (looking forward to the editorial part of it) also illustrational. So if you are passionate, and like drawing these things *(not to mentioned, you craft the fonts, written part of some illustration, almost as comics...) there is are a good kickstart to a successful career as an illustrator. No question about how hard it will be first.... But if you experiment, and gave yourself the space and time to it> you can start re-imagining some characters, or stories (real literature) and those small portfolios are a huge assets on these sites. Agencies love when they see something new, coherent and different, so keep up! >D
Aww, first of all - I always love you comments ❤️ You know what's funny? I was at design high school, now I'm at art university (kinda) and you're the first one to give me this constructive and genuine feedback on my work as a general. They didn't give me that even on my entrance-exam (I was expecting feedback, and they said literally nothing 😅) so I appreciate this so much, you don't even know! I remember, a few years ago, I was trying to apply for a few illustration jobs, so I could do illustrations for money, and no one replied. I was so discouraged by this (I guess I still am). Even if I tried the same thing after school, I need to find a stable job first. I think I'm not that good to be full time artist 😀
I'm glad to hear that I gave some useful feedback. You're the beginning of your journey... ant that's the most frustrating and hard part... but if you find passion and great time doing it for developing your own craft... everything will come! >D
