National holiday tomorrow! July 1st is Canada Day; historically a day to not work, get drunk, light off fireworks, and just appreciate Canada. The downside is that recently we've found some unmarked mass graves full of native children in residential schools. These schools were run by the Catholic Church and backed by the government. Children were ripped away from their families to be tortured and whitewashed. The last of them I think closed only in 1996. 😭 I think in lieu of celebrating, I'll be treating the day more like a day of remembrance and reflection. Our natives still aren't treated well here in many cases. There's an ongoing concern with the quality of drinking water on many of them. Canada, we can do better. 🇨🇦
