A bit late for this FULL ALBUM FRIDAY, but it is still Friday, and better late than never right? I started listening to Rammstein in late elementary school (probably 7th or 8th grade?) it was Du Hast, Engel and their cover of Striped (originally by Depeche Mode) that piqued my interest. It was my good goth friend at the time that got me into them... At that point, I was still way into pop music and stuff on the radio. Anyway, fast forward to 10th grade and my buddy Mark burned me a copy of Mutter. I must have had this album on non-stop repeat for the whole year haha. Listening to this album throws me back to the Winter season of that year. I remember leaving high school on the last day for Winter break and listening to this CD as I walked out to the parking lot to get picked up. While the songs are all sung in German, I think they're melodically still very enjoyable. I didn't understand a word of it the first few times I listened to it - it wasn't until I finally got around to searching for translations on the internet that I got a better understanding of what they're about. The album has a pretty good mix of songs, mostly being hard and heavy, but a few being a bit less aggressive. While Rammstein have released a few albums after this, Mutter is the one that I always go back to; but I couldn't tell you why... maybe it's the nostalgia?
