While chess is a challenging game by itself, I have been quite impressed with the wide variety of methods using which the chess board and all the chess pieces can be made. The material can be cheap plastic, to wooden and even ivory apparently. Some are magnetic and others are not. I loved this large wooden chess set I saw in a hotel that we stayed in. The pieces were as big as my hand and we're l beautifully, but simply crafted. I wish I could play it well. I've learnt very little chess and can barely beat any opponent.
