"As busy as ants" This little colony of ferocious looking red ants were in the garden area of our apartment complex. They were tunneling and burrowing in a sand pile. They looked like little specks from our standing position, but when we bent and looked closely, we realised there were 100s of them and they were all busy. This looked like a fresh colony, as the sand passages they had burrowed appeared new. Peering closely, we could appreciate the delicate patterns and shapes in their body. They looked like they could give us a painful bite if we disturbed them and so we kept away. It was difficult to capture them close on my mobile. But here are a few shots.
