Coffee blooming! It's not just flowers that bloom - coffee does too. This is a photo of the coffee in my Aeropress blooming in anticipation! Roasting coffee apparently produces carbon dioxide that is trapped in the beans and is slowly released over weeks. When these beans are freshly ground and then brewed the gas escapes quickly over a few minutes. That's what I see when I start pouring hot water over the freshly ground coffee - a few bubbles and fizz that sputter out. Experts say that it's better to let the gas out as it improves brewing and makes the taste better. Have you watched your coffee bloom? #Coffee
