@ZoyaAnsari more from that month

Let them be wrong about you. It truly isn’t your job to convince those who are committed to misunderstand you. Seriously. It really isn’t your job to convince those who aren’t willing to assume the best in you. Let them be wrong about you. And notice how your energy shifts when you no longer feel the burden of having to prove that you’re a good person. Be a good person, but don’t waste your energy trying to prove it to anyone unwilling to see it. . Disclaimer: there’s a part of you that will viscerally negate this and will want to continue to fight for their approval. Notice if that’s the part of you that has been socialized to believe that your safety depends on the approval or validation of others. Expect that part to put up a fight. . Maybe at one point this part truly kept you safe from experiencing harm, punishment or abuse (physical or emotional). Maybe at one point you did, in fact, need to be understood, liked or accepted for your own safety. . This is the part of you that will struggle the most, at a visceral level, with being misunderstood or disliked by those around you—especially when you KNOW you have a good heart. (know that you did nothing wrong for coming up with this adaptive survival strategy—you had to do what you had to do to survive). . But the necessary shift from child consciousness to adult consciousness will require that we make peace with the fact that not everyone will always “get” us, like us or even accept us. And even though our mind will agree to all of this, it will be our body that will take more convincing whenever we experience this particular trigger; it will feel unsafe to the point you'll begin questioning what else you can do to change their mind about you. If you’ve been there, you know how draining this is 🥵 . The good news is that whatever we learned can be unlearned. Don't let it take years to get out of that cycle.
