We seek someone who can listen to us, who can understand us, and who can help us. That’s what we hope for when life slaps us with sadness. But soon we realize that no one can share your darkness for you. You have to consume it all, on your own. But can’t people help? They can help. Some people sincerely try to help. But that acts just like a comforting hug. It holds you together for a while, but it does not fix what’s broken deep inside you. Only you know which part hurts, why it hurts, and how badly it hurts. Even if someone loves you the most on earth, even that person can’t cry your tears for you. The sad truth is that you will have to bear all that pain yourself. You will have to cry out every single tear out of your own eyes. And once you accept this harsh, unfair reality, the healing gets easier. How? Well, now you don’t hope for someone to save you. You know no one is coming. You know all you have is yourself. You accept that it’s your own, personal fight.
