Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all. Thanksgiving in Canada actually has a really cool origin story unrelated to the American version. 43 years before the American Plymouth Rock version in 1578 English explorer & PIRATE held the first Thanksgiving in what is now Nunavut to celebrate his succeful voyage to the new world. Yes that is right we celebrate a pirate ☠ 😀. In 1606 explorer Samuel Champlain started the first annual Thanksgiving in the Canadas (Upper & Lower Canada before the amalgamation). Today it has turned into a day to get together & eat lots & lots of food & celebrating family. I am unsure if I should make traditional foods today or if I should go off book & make something else. I do have a small turkey in the freezer since I don't have any family to celebrate with it would just be for us but maybe I will make it another time instead. What do you think is a turkey a must on Thanksgiving or no?
