Christmas tree
Every December, my mother always puts up a Christmas tree to decorate the room, maybe this has become a habit for our family to install Christmas ornaments in December.
Actually I have a fir tree in a pot but it is still very small at the moment. Maybe next year the fir tree will just grow big and be ready to be used as a Christmas tree decoration.
How come I thought I wanted to put a chicken ornament on this Christmas tree???, haha.
Maybe it looks cool and a bit weird haha. By the way where can I get that chicken ornament?? Hmmm
Caring for Baby Chicks
Taking care of baby chicks from 3 days to 1 month old is not easy, it requires attention, both in cage cleanliness, cage biosecurity, water sterilization, and probiotics. All of this is for the convenience of the chickens.
Cleanliness of the cage, if we ignore it, the accumulated dirt will cause ammonia and it will irritate the eyes of the chicks and cause respiratory problems. At least once every 2 days we have to clean the cage.
For biosecurity of the cage, what we have to do is spray the cage with a disinfectant to keep the chickens safe from viruses and pathogenic bacteria that harm the chickens. At least you can spray the cage twice a week.
Water sterilization is very important to prevent chickens from being protected from pathogenic bacteria and chickens stay healthy when drinking water that is maintained in quality.
Probiotics, play a very important role in keeping the chicken intestines healthy and reducing the smell of chicken feces in the chicken coop. Its application can be through drinking water and spraying on the chicken coop.
All need hard work and perseverance to keep chickens healthy.

Drinking
I like to see this hen when she is drinking, because it looks adorable. She always dips her whole face into the drinking water like someone who is washing her face during the day haha.
She does have a bald neck and white skin with a blushing face, this is what is called Madagascar chicken, very beautiful, right?

Handsome Rooster
Currently, this rooster has reached adulthood, he has been chasing the hen he likes but has not gotten what he wants haha.
Every time he invites hens to breed, but he always gets rejected, it's really unfortunate for this rooster haha. But he doesn't give up on attracting the hen he loves.
Indeed, this rooster still looks young but he has a burning passion to breed
I want to see the offspring of this handsome rooster, maybe he needs a lot of practice from his experienced brothers.

Probiotics
This is a probiotic that I just bought a few days ago, looks like bottled mineral water and is clear, right? ha ha.
The first time I bought it, I was also surprised. Usually all I know about probiotics is the color brown. This is my 4th time buying this probiotic.
I bought this for my chickens, which I use to ferment feed, spray the coop to deodorize it, and mix it with drinking water. So that my chickens stay healthy in the rainy season.
For those of you who are new to probiotics, it may sound foreign, but probiotics are a collection of good bacteria to maintain chicken health, increase chicken appetite, dry chicken manure, and improve chicken health. You can get probiotics at a chicken feed store, in your area.

Change Photo Profile Picture
This morning I took a photo of my chicken drinking probiotic water, I have given 2 liters of probiotic water to my chickens and they really like it.
Of course, probiotic water is very beneficial for my chickens in the rainy season where I feel right now. Especially to improve their health when the weather is not good.
And at the same time I use this photo for my new profile photo, maybe this is the last time I change my profile photo haha. Many friends don't realize that it's me with my new profile photo, I hope to recognize me haha.

Distinguishing the Sex of Chicks.
Hey friends, this photo is not meant to hurt the chicks, but I'm holding them gently, to show you how to tell the difference between a boy chick and a girl chick for a 3 week old chick.
Can you guess which one is male and which one is female?
Ok I'll show you, look at the chicken's comb on the right looks bigger than the chicken's comb on the left, this means that the sex of the chick on the right is a boy and the chick on the left is a girl.
The male chicken's comb, always stands out and is bigger than the female chicken's comb. That's a simple way I can tell the sex of 3 week old chicks.
I still can't tell the sex of chicks that are 1-7 days old.

Young Banana Leaf
This afternoon I was walking in the back garden to look for papaya leaves. I saw something unique, this wild hen was eating young banana leaves. You can see for yourself this hen is eating voraciously.
Young banana leaves have benefits as natural antibiotics, increase stamina, prolong breath, especially for fighting cocks, and stimulate hens to lay eggs quickly.
Actually, wild chickens have an instinct to maintain their immune system by looking for their own antibiotics in the wild. I like to observe this. So this adds to my insight.

First aid
While I was cooking water this afternoon, while eating tango and reading friends' posts here. I heard this chicken whimpering in pain, I immediately rushed to the chicken coop to check it out.
It turned out that this chicken had difficulty removing feces from its anus. And I immediately brought this chicken into the house to immediately provide assistance.
What I did was I turned on the water pump and I inserted the water tube into the anus to clean the feces that couldn't come out until they were clean.
Maybe because this chicken is old, it can't digest rough food. So the feces get stuck inside.

1 week ago I posted them here, you can see the progress by comparing 1 week ago with the current one, via the following link.
https://noise.cash/post/wz053r2b59qq
I'm happy to see them growing fast, because they eat a lot and have a high appetite. Every midnight I have to wake up to feed them, because I'm sure the food rations have run out by midnight, the sound of the chicken coop starts to make noise haha.
Failed to Make 2 Cow's Eye Eggs
This afternoon the weather is so cold, it looks like I'm going to cook noodles and side dishes with beef eye eggs, but I failed to make it haha, not as expected haha.
Even so I still eat it because my stomach is too hungry. Haha.
And even this egg, I took it in my chicken coop haha.
How's your dinner menu today?
Red Madagascar
This red hairy Madagascar chicken is indeed very beautiful, and suitable to be used as an ornamental chicken. But unfortunately this belongs to my cousin, he asked me to help sell this chicken because he needed money.
I want to buy it, but unfortunately my chicken coop is full of chickens haha, so I just help sell my cousin's chicken.
My cousin is also a madagascar chicken breeder. I used to give a red madagascar stud because he doesn't have a madagascar chicken, the color is almost the same as this chicken, because this is the son of a madagascar stud from me.
Now this chicken has been sold, because I have sold it through facebook. And I am very grateful to be able to help sell my cousin's chicken, and that's all I can do.
Same age, but different growth.
Today I checked the growth of the chicks in my chicken coop, see the difference, they are the same age, the same feed, and sleep in the same place. The difference is the genetic difference of the chickens.
The chick on the left is a type of broiler that has undergone crossbreeding and on the right is a type of native chicken.
So in raising chickens on an intensive scale, if you want to save on expenses, you have to choose the type of chicken that you will develop with fast growth and benefit you.
Actually I like all chickens, but for semi-intensive cages I choose chickens with fast growth, if native chickens are very suitable to live in the wild.
1 month has passed
The growth of the Black Madagascar Chicken is getting better and faster.
Start the shape of the cock's comb, body and feathers.
I last posted here 1 month ago, you can see it here:
https://noise.cash/post/9r58wp5d7x22
You can also tell the difference between now and 1 month ago, how fast this chicken is growing, now it looks taller.
The color of the skin is black and the neck is bald, which makes me even more fond of this breed of chicken.
Many wanted this chicken but I didn't let it go.
Do you have this type of chicken?
Observe
My young brother, really likes watching the chicks in this heating box, he always observes the development of the chicks every day.
He was very happy to see the chicks growing up healthily. Dan often asked me the difference in the development of one chick from another.
Of course I always answer his questions. He really likes chicks that grow fast and fat haha.He always holds his favorite chicks because they are so adorable.
Observing the development of chicks is very exciting and fun, especially when caring for them from hatching until they grow into adults.
Herbal Antibiotic Mixed Feed
When the rainy season has arrived, the air temperature is so cold that most chickens are less enthusiastic, I only make fermented feed that has been mixed with ground ingredients such as turmeric, papaya leaves, garlic, ginger, curcuma enough to make my chickens more stamina and keep warm.
When the rainy season has arrived, I only use these ingredients to help my chickens stay healthy, yes I prefer natural ingredients as antibiotics and the price is also affordable.
I prefer to mix these herbal antibiotic ingredients in my chicken food because it reacts more quickly and is absorbed in the chicken's body so it is very safe to use every day.
How do you deal with winter or rain to keep your chickens healthy?
Make snacks.
The rainy season has arrived in my country. Every day the sun appears briefly and then hides again behind the thick clouds and it makes the air temperature so cold.
In my country, there are only 2 seasons, the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season arrives at the end of September to March. While the dry season arrives in April to August.
Yeah even the rainy season is much longer in duration than the dry season. That's the season in my country, but I prefer the dry season because there can be too many activities outside the house than the rainy season which makes me just lying on the bed and makes me always hungry. Haha
It's raining this afternoon, mom is making some snacks to eat with the family, I don't know the name of this cake, but the ingredients are made from noodles that have been processed and then wrapped in flour and then fried, enough to fill a hungry stomach when rain.haha
So, what is the name of this snack at your place?
Utilizing Bamboo Ground
This afternoon my young brothers and I are filtering the soil that has been mixed with charcoal from burning bamboo leaves.
Why do we have to sift this soil? because to separate small and large rocks so as not to mix and the result is the soil texture becomes soft and black.
If you have a bamboo tree in your home area, you can burn the dry leaves, after it cools you can use it as a mixture of your planting media.
The soil in the area around the bamboo leaves is also good, you can use that too. Those are some of the benefits that you can take from bamboo trees for your favorite plants.
1 rooster and 5 hens.
Having a desire to raise chickens for beginners, it doesn't need to be too much, just 1 rooster and 5 hens, it can make you happy in raising chickens.
Starting from a small number, there will be more, if we are patient and diligent in raising chickens. What is important for us to take care of chickens so that they can survive is provision for raising chickens.
Learning while raising chickens makes us gain more experience, don't be afraid to fail and learn again, record and learn what experiences you have experienced in raising chickens. For example, sick chickens and how to treat them, and so on, you will all face in raising chickens. .
For me raising chickens is a hobby, so I don't complain about the condition of my chickens when they are sick and it makes me learn more and be curious.
Raising chickens is really fun you can fill your refrigerator full of chicken eggs.
New Chicks Hatch Again
I'm still so excited to welcome these tiny babies out of the egg to move freely and see how delicious the food is in front of them. Haha
Currently, these adorable Madagascar chicks have hatched, and coincidentally there are already those who want to take care of them but are waiting for 2-3 weeks of age so that their body development is strong and full. Very happy that there are customers who are interested in these Madagascar chicks.
At least it makes me more enthusiastic to raise chickens, most of the buyers of chicks in my village do not dare to take at the age of just hatching, for fear of death. They want to take chicks at the age of 2-3 weeks because they believe at that age their immune system chicks are strong.
Honestly taking care of chicks in the box, it's not easy, the risk of death is indeed high if we take care of the chicks wrong.
It is enough to use boiled water for chicks, and feed that is suitable for the age of the chicks, the cage is always clean every day is enough to make the chicks happy and healthy.
New Chicks Cage
A few days ago I bought a chick coop, because previously I used used cardboard and the chicks kept growing so it looked cramped for chicks who like to move.
And now they are very happy and can move freely, this cage model can keep them warm and comfortable in the middle of the rainy season that I am experiencing at my place.
I use used sacks as a base so that the dirt can quickly seep in and the cage doesn't get muddy, then every morning it is replaced with a clean used sack pad so that the chickens stay healthy without any respiratory problems.
Make the chick coop as comfortable as possible so that the chicks grow well. By the way I haven't been able to make a chick coop, I can only buy it from the seller on facebook. Of course the seller can deliver it to my house. Haha
Cared for by Stepmother
I got these chicks from my neighbor when they were 4 days old there were 3 of them.
At the same time, there are several newly hatched chicks, the result of natural incubation by the mother hen.
Then I immediately inserted this chick into the hen who was still waiting for some eggs to hatch. Of course, without suspecting this chick could mingle with other chicks.
And now this chick has grown up, more or less 15 days old, growing healthily without the stepmother suspecting it haha.
So is it possible to insert another chick into the stepmother for care?
The answer is yes, as long as the hen is still incubating and has just hatched chicks.
Counting Eggs
Look at this hen, counting the eggs, haha. When I was about to take her eggs she made a sound as if forbidding me to take the eggs. Therefore she counted the eggs again, but she thought, "Why are my eggs getting less and less?" ha ha.
I always take the eggs in the bucket secretly without the chickens knowing, and always leave one brown toy egg in the left position.
My goal is to leave toy eggs so that she always lays eggs, even though they are only toy eggs, in fact they still lay eggs until now. haha
Breakfast
This morning I made breakfast for my chickens, because they were hungry and I had to make this breakfast for them immediately. Because the chickens were already hungry.
I only make a simple breakfast menu, the important thing is that their nutritional intake is fulfilled. The ingredients I use are only fermented bran, fermented corn, plus chicken feed, feed supplements, and papaya leaves.
The importance of papaya leaves during the rainy season like this, can help keep chickens immune healthy. At least I give it every 3 days, so that the papaya tree continues to grow papaya leaves that I will take later.
To wait for the papaya tree to sprout again I use indigofera leaves which are rich in protein, and all the leaves I get are already planted in the garden, so I don't buy them at the market and just pick them up.
Queuing
The chicken on the right is waiting in line to lay eggs, actually the chicken on the right is really impatient to queue up to lay eggs. She will be angry if there are other chickens in the bucket that lay eggs too long. Haha
She is a bit of a naughty chicken, can't make peace with others, whether it's sharing food, sharing a place to lay eggs or sharing her husband haha. She is a type of laying hens who have recently started laying eggs.
Maybe it's been almost 3 weeks of this chicken in the cage, because I used to get this chicken in the market, even though this chicken is difficult to hold, she always wants to rebel, when I hold this chicken.
Now she has laid eggs smoothly, sometimes she doesn't like her lover having an affair with another chicken, she always breaks her lover's marriage with another chicken, because she doesn't want her lover to move to another heart. Haha
Mini Aquarium
The chicks' cage is made of cardboard and I gave a rectangular hole and I put a wire to keep it from coming out.
Yes of course these chicks are looking big now, and are doing fine at the moment. I always see them in this square shaped hole looking like an aquarium to me. haha
These chicks are always peeking in this hole, they look adorable. They will be noisy when the food runs out haha. That's what my chicks do every day.
Even though they are only in a cardboard cage, they are still comfortable because I always keep the chicks' cage clean every day. I want to buy a special cage for these chicks so they can move freely because every day they are growing.
BUMBU BALI
Last night, my mother asked my brothers and Sisters, what menu would you like to cook tomorrow?
I suggested to cook Bumbu Bali, there happened to be too many eggs in the refrigerator. Because lately my chickens have been laying eggs too actively.
The ingredients used are only tempeh, tofu, kikil and boiled eggs as well as other kitchen spices. Maybe you can look for it on youtube with the title "Bumbu Bali". This dish is my favorite.
Yes, fortunately there are some eggs in the refrigerator so just buy the ingredients that are not available, you definitely know the price of eggs is very expensive. So having chickens at home can save money on not buying eggs.
Indeed, raising chickens for me is very profitable, especially to complement the ingredients for daily food needs.
Weekend Picking Up Sustenance
On this sunny morning, my florist has a new customer to buy some flowers, including these 3 colors of bougainvillea in one tree.
I serve customers alone, usually I ask my mom to help me check the price but my mom and my brother are out, to attend my dad's friend's wedding. Meanwhile, my dad is out of town for a few days.
So I just decided on the price even though I forgot a bit haha, I'm sure the price of 3 colors of bougainvillea flowers in 1 tree is still expensive. So I just guessed the price.
Without haggling, the customer immediately took the price I had given this flower. I like customers like this haha.
That's my story this morning on the weekend, I hope mom doesn't scold me haha.
Enjoy your weekend.
Egg Yolk Color
This evening I tried to buy eggs at the store to compare with my chicken eggs, this is just a comparison, there is a very significant color difference.
The orange color of the egg yolk is my chicken egg and the pale yellow color is the egg that I bought at the store. Actually, there is no difference in the nutritional content of the egg itself when we consume it.
But we can see that the quality of the health and feed of the chickens is very influential on the color of the chicken eggs, if the eggs are orange like my chicken eggs, this indicates that the quality of the feed has been met and the health of the chickens remains good.
While the eggs are pale yellow in color, it can be said that the condition of the chicken is in an unhealthy condition and the nutritional intake of feed is not sufficient.
Ok it's time for me to fry these eggs for dinner because my stomach is already hungry haha..
Feed Supplement
For hen who are already producing, I give this supplement so that the egg shells remain strong and the nutritional needs of the hen are met so that there is no lack of calcium and other intakes contained in this supplement.
This supplement also helps the hatching rate of eggs, the application of 1 tablespoon is enough for 1 kg of feed.
Yes, because I use a semi-intensive chicken coop system, so their nutritional needs must be met so that cannibals do not occur, aka the mother eats her own eggs.
For those of you who use a semi-intensive chicken coop system, please pay attention to the nutritional needs of your brooders to stay healthy and produce smoothly.
