Turkey changed its name, or at least its international name, mainly to avoid the allusion to the word "turkey" in English (turkey). The country changed its name to Türkiye, its Turkish name, after the Government issued a decree to implement the change. It was learned that the United Nations accepted the request of the Turkish authorities to make the change official internationally. It applies to all languages. ______________________________________ Turquía cambió de nombre o al menos su denominación a nivel internacional, principalmente para evitar la alusión a la palabra “pavo” en inglés (turkey). El país pasó a llamarse Türkiye, su nombre en turco, luego de que el Gobierno emitiera un decreto para instaurar el cambio. Se conoció que Naciones Unidas aceptó la solicitud de las autoridades turcas para oficializar internacionalmente la modificación. Se aplica a todos los idiomas.
