En este tipo de fotografía hay detalles que deben estar obligatoriamente en el el reportaje del edificio o el estilo. Para ello se debe aislar el sujeto (la puerta), captarlo en toda su dimensión e introducir una figura humana como referencia de tamaño.
Esta magnífica puerta es de la Casa Comalart del arquitecto Salvador Valeri i Pupurull, uno de los edificios más representativos del modernismo catalán. La puerta es toda una obra de arte de la ebanistería.

When you are commissioned to photograph historic sites, you must plan carefully to shoot from the best angles and in the best natural light.
This is the pyramid of Pharaoh Zoser, the oldest of the great pyramids. For the cover photo of the site it was important to give a good overview of the site, in the best possible light and without too many people. The result was that I had to be there at 7 a.m. and ask permission (bribe the guard) to climb a small adjacent mound.

Esta es la pirámide del Faraón Zóser, la más antigua de las grandes pirámides. Para la foto de portada del lugar era importante dar una buen visión general de su emplazamiento, con la mejor luz posible y sin mucha gente. Eso dio como resultado que debía estar allí a las 7 de la mañana y solicitar permiso (sobornar al guarda) para subir a un pequeño montículo adyacente.

In the rather recent past, photographers used a thing called film to record our images. There were also cameras of different formats, cameras that would now be considered rare.
Well, the panoramic image I bring you today is one of those rarities. It was made with the Hasselblad X-Pan panoramic camera, a high-precision machine that could record on the same roll of film, normal sized 35x24mm photos and panoramic format photos about twice as wide. A marvel of technology.
The photo was taken on a photographic flight over the island of Formentera, in the Balearic Islands.

En un pasado más bien reciente, los fotógrafos usábamos una cosa llamada película para registrar nuestra imágenes. También había cámaras de diferentes formatos, cámaras que ahora serían consideradas raras.
Pues bien, la imagen panorámica que traigo hoy es una de esas rarezas. Fue realizada con la cámara panorámica Hasselblad X-Pan, una máquina de alta precisión que permitía registrar en un mismo rollo, fotos de tamaño normal, de 35x24mm y fotos en formato panorámico de más o menos el doble de ancho. Una maravilla de la tecnología.
La foto fue realizada en un vuelo fotográfico sobre la isla de Formentera, en las Baleares.

I am of the opinion that to make a complete reportage of a city, architectural details are essential.
This image corresponds to a detail of a modernist building in Barcelona. The city experienced its period of architectural splendour during the first quarter of the 20th century, when the owners of the buildings in the Eixample competed to have the most spectacular façades. This, combined with the modernist style, ended up giving the city a truly spectacular urban appearance.

Esta imagen corresponde a un detalle de un edificio modernista de Barcelona. La ciudad vivió su época de esplendor arquitectónico durante el primer cuarto de siglo XX, cuando los propietarios de los edificios del ensanche, competían por tener las fachadas más espectaculares. Eso en combinación con el estilo modernista, acabó dando una fisonomía urbana realmente espectacular.

The dark part of the sea that can be seen in the image is far from being negative, on the contrary, it is a meadow of posidonia, the algae that oxygenates the sea and makes the waters close to the coast pristine. The health of our Mediterranean depends on the conservation of this ecosystem, which, as can be deduced, is extremely fragile. For this reason, anchoring the boat on the meadow is totally illegal.

Se pude decir que en términos geológicos, las colinas que vemos en la imagen, que son antiguos volcanes, hace cuatro días que estaban escupiendo fuego por el crater. Pero el hombre las hizo suyas y con paciencia elevó un muro de piedra alrededor de cada parra para que no se la llevara el viento que constantemente asola la zona. Solo así pudo obtener algún rendimiento de una tierra que aunque fértil, es tremendamente hostil.

For all those who want to make small retouches to their photographs, whether they are taken with a mobile phone or a camera, there is a gem of a programme for the computer, called PhotoScape.
It's free, it's in several languages, it does a lot of things in a simple way and it does them well. It has filters, cropping, resizing and resolution tools. It's a marvel and I confess that when I have to do simple things with my photos, I use it without any problems. For both Mac and Windows.

En fotografía las tomas realizadas cuando el sol ya se ha puesto y aún queda luz natural en el ambiente, se le llama la hora azul. El motivo es simple, como se utilizan tiempos de exposición largos, a veces hasta un minuto, el cielo que nos puede parecer oscuro, todavía tiene un cierto grado de luz diurna.
Es imprescindible el uso del trípode y hacerlo en modo manual, poniendo los valores que nos dicte el fotómetro de la cámara, pero sobrexponiendo un poco.
