This rugged landscape is a modification made by man's hand several centuries ago. The place is called Sa Pedrera and is an ancient quarry of marés stone, which was used to build the walls of the ancient city of Ibiza, its cathedral and most of the public works from the 12th to the 18th century. The blocks of stone were transported by sea to the city, some six nautical miles away. Access by land is very complicated due to the fact that it is at the bottom of a steep cliff, although it can be accessed if you are in good physical condition. El lugar se llama Sa Pedrera y es una antigua cantera de piedra marés, con la cual se hicieron las murallas de la antigua ciudad de Ibiza, su catedral y la mayoría de obras públicas desde el siglo XII hasta el XVIII. Los bloques de piedra eran trasladados por mar hasta la ciudad, distante unas seis millas naúticas. El acceso por tierra es muy complicado debido a que está en la parte baja de un acantilado de pendientes vertiginosas, aunque se puede acceder si se está en buena condición física.
