Experimenting with a wide-angle lens can give very funny results. Wide-angle lenses have a focal length less than lenses which gives a ‘normal’ scene for the human eye. The usual focal lengths are considered to be 35-65 mm, while wide-angle lenses go to focal lengths of only a few millimeters. This gives them a very wide cadre after which they got their name. What is inconvenient is that distortions most often occur in such a wide frame. The most common of these is barrel distortion, which makes all subjects somewhat reminiscent of the cartoon hero Obelix :) Therefore, when using wide-angle lenses, some rules are followed: you should not be too close to the subject and ideally the subject of photography should be in the center of the frame . In doing so, you accept that the objects on the edge of the frame will have a certain dose of distortion and barrel effect. Experimenting with my 10mm lens turned out to be a very fun failure when I didn’t follow some of the rules. While the ‘drunk’ trees are definitely not realistic, I still like how the photo turned out in the end. The location is another beautiful mountain near Belgrade - Divčibare. Covered with evergreen forest, this mountain is one of my favorite picnic spots.
