𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐚. (Acts 11:29 NIV) I was astonished to learn about this "community pantry" that is continually spreading throughout the country like a wildfire. It was initiated by an ordinary woman with the aim to help others specially the lesser ones in their daily subsistence. And lo, her beautiful deed inspired the hearts of the people and her example has multiplied in every corner of the nation. The act has touched the hearts of those who are fortunate to share their bounty so that this project will flourish. The said "community pantry" is directed with the reminder: "Magbigay ayon sa kakayahan. Kumuha batay sa pangangailangan." (Give according to what you're capable of. Get according to what you need.) This is something good that has sprung amidst this present crisis. Group of people are beginning to be conscientious to the needs of their fellow men. This is how we should think and do to lift each other in times of need. The early group of Christians practiced this "common good" long time ago as was exemplified in the book of the Acts of the Apostles. Jesus himself has reminded us that " It is more blessed to give than to receive." Nevertheless, not everyone is pleased by the idea and smeared some malicious intent upon the initiator. But then, I believe that the good shall always thriumph despite of. Kudos to this goodness that is spreading nationwide. Let us prefer the good of our fellows at all times.
