As a Lady can you date a guy younger than you? Dating - An age old question: can a female date a guy older than her by more than five years? Or, can a male date a lady younger than him by more than eight years? According to "etiquette", the older guy should be less than five years older than his date, while the younger lady can be between eight and 10 years younger. There is a unwritten rule about this which has been in practice for many years. The rule applies to women more than men. Why? This is because male age is related to earnings, social and political status, as well as power in a relationship. The reason why dating at a certain age is popular is because it is a great way to learn of what you like and don’t like in a relationship. Everyone has their own way of learning things. Some people learn by watching, reading and doing. Others learn by listening and waiting. Dating in a teen or early 20th century had its own merit. People say younger guys should not date older women because of the feelings that the woman will have for the man, but the woman won’t have for him. In this day and age though, this rule about what age someone can be in a relationship is disappearing. People are changing their ways of learning about relationships and dating is one of the ways they are learning this lesson. It's now a norm for an Older Lady to date a younger guy. What matters most is the Level of maturity the guy has. But some ladies are still against this, especially in this part of the world.

I dated younger guys in the past, and my soon to be husband is younger than me. Eight years younger than me. Love knows no boundaries, of course!

As for me my husband is 8 years older than me. We dated for 6 years before getting married. Other people doesnt approve our age gap but some are happy cause as they say "age doesnt matter" as long as we both understand each other. But we still cant hide the fact that some places doesnt approve this kind of set.up and I respect that..
Happiness is what matters and not age. Here in Africa so many people are still against a large age gap
No offense but can I ask why some of them are still againts in this kind of set.up ? Is there a belief in there that stopping this kind of norm?
It's the belief that the lady age more quickly than the man. So it's better a man marries a younger lady.
