Colorful Meadow Sunset These shots were captured during an evening walk in the area I am living, at Sukhaya Samarka, Samara. The clouds were beautiful on that day. We had water rising for the second time in this spring season. In the Russian language we do call high water as 'polovodye'. These are meadows, lakes, and rivers in between of the two cities: Samara and Novokuybyshevsk. The dewberry ('ezhevika') plant in the setting sun's light. Its fruits are edible and very tasty! In my area we start gathering them in July, and they continue to grow until colds in September. And that's it for today! *** *These photographs and prose are my own. 🪰 Bombylius major Boris had hard times this spring. Not only the prices for everything rose up, but the whole society went crazy due to the conflict. This was the first time he could come to his dacha this year. He loved all about gardening. And most important, there was a need to check the countryside shed, whether it was robbed or not. Upon entering the plot, he noticed that Lily of the valley aka *Convallaria majalis* just started to grow. Soon will arrive beautiful flowers with pleasant scent. Luckily it was fine about the shed, while the neighboring cottages been robbed by those who look for valuables and metal parts for selling scrap. Boris went through the garden and noticed a small insect on a growing leaf of the apple tree. On the first sight, the creature looked very unusual and dangerous considering her long proboscis. She looked similar to a fly. And at the same time similar to a bumblebee. Later, when Boris returned home, he learned that the insect was *Bombylius major.* She sat calmly on the leaf, allowing to observe and photograph her. Autumn Samara Gagarin Park This park is located in the Promyshlenny district of Samara. Its full name is The Yuriy Gagarin Park of Culture and Leisure. It was opened on Jul 9, 1976, within borders of the four streets: Moskovskoye hwy, Soviet Army, Stara-Zagora, and 22nd Partsyezd. The GPS coordinates are as follows: 53.229293, 50.200357 This bust in honor of the very first cosmonaut Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin was finished and set up in 2011. Marathon Samara Bend This was my very first half marathon in life: I ran it on Oct 5, 2014. The Zhiguli aka Samara Bend marathon has a half marathon satellite run. During the race, we enjoyed those beautiful autumnal views of the Samara Bend: IIRC, this was my very first finisher medal, too: His name is Dirk Vlierboom. Key reasons why I resumed running today Hello, dear readcashers! Today I decided to start running again. After a long break of around two and a half years. Here is the video I broadcasted live right before the run onto YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZEpjl3b91k These are my key reasons on why I need that so badly and right now: * I started running to fight anxiety. Everything is being swallowed here down to a black hole. Economy is collapsing, citizens go crazy, laws are becoming unlawful as hell. All due to the war. Running helps to calm down and sort out things. * Fighting frustration about people around who support the aggression. They lie. They attack me personally, using the mass and power the unjust laws gave to them. I estimate the war-supporting crowd in Russia as ~80% percents currently. * In Samara we are experiencing less COVID-related restrictions. Hopefully this year more races will be held around. I have free slots carried from 2020. Need to train for them. I have a few other reasons which are less important for me at the moment. And how about you: do you run regularly? How I Was Cleaning Planet Live but Was Then Surrounded by Cops Suspecting Me of Drug Trafficking Last spring I decided to do my very first planet cleaning session. More than that, I was planning to live stream it on the video. First of all, I will tell you a little bit about the place cleaned. It is a branch of the Volga river which is called Sukhaya Samarka. A very popular spot visited by the locals who—like pigs—leave tons of garbage. People make bbq, drink vodka and beer sitting on stumps and wood logs, then throw everything left in the water or drop it right on the shoreline. No need to say that during the high-water season, the stuff is washed away and travels down the stream of the huge river. So I took my smartphone, set it up for the video stream, then tapped "Go Live". I have to admit shooting a video with a phone in one hand and collecting garbage by another is a quite challenging and slow process. After I picked up all the litter I could fit in two plastic packets, I started to move towards a trash bin. On the way there I noticed two cars coming in my way. That was very strange due to the road condition—it was full of dirt. Also, it is a dead-end of the road. And the garages were recently removed from the area. Upon approaching one car stopped behind me, and the other in front. Young guys in civilian clothes popped out of the cars, one quickly flashed me his "police identity document". I did not have time either to read or recognize the paper. I was too busy to write a story immediately after. And now the time has come! First-ever published. Dying Houses Houses are living, just like people. Not being buried on time, they start to rotten. Then they attract a lot of life to them: homeless animals, poor guys, bored children, and especially urban explorers. Men drink booze inside. Some others look for valuables and metal stuff to sell for cheap. Animals find their home under a roof. Mice and rats burrow their holes in a relatively safe and warm place. Birdies make nests in between planks. Homeless dogs discover a good shelter underground. Kids love to play inside abandoned buildings, since their parents do not have money for a movie theater, and there is no entertainment around. Just ugly and broken reality. Poor Little Fox A little fox lived in a forest close to a dirt road, near to a popular hiking spot. When Yan first met her, she was young and active. On one of the days when everything becomes yellowish-reddish, Yan was cycling to enjoy fresh autumnal air, and that red girl started chasing his bike until the man stopped. The fox blocked the passage and started begging for food. Yan looked for what he had in his rucksack then shelled out a sausage to the insolent beast. A few days later a group of quad bikers moved around and noticed the fox laying on a roadside. The boys intended to play with the fox and to do some crazy selfie shots. One of the quad bikers—Alexander—tried to stroke the fox while doing a selfie photo. The animal grinned in response, showing her bare teeth, and growled a bit. Alexander became so scared, dropped the phone, then picked a stick and started beating her. One of the stabs punched the animal's eye. *** A year later, on another fall, Yan surprisingly found her again. The wound skinned over. Daching 5.0 (photo & video) A very warm welcome! This story accommodates photographs and a video from two days I was working on my dacha (a Russian word meaning a country house) at Samara, Russia. On May 14th and 18th, 2020. Together with a friend who is helping me daching we arrived early and noticed these beautiful very small pears ('grushi' in Russian) growing right from blossoms. Then I started to chop bushes and burn them cleaning the overgrown space of the garden. The lily of the valley plant ('landysh'), or Convallaria majalis, growing and blossoming near to a shed. I spotted the Coprinellus micaceus mushrooms, also called 'navozhnik mercayushiy' in Russian. This is our healthy lunch ('obed'), made of flakes and grains adding fresh yoghurt. The folding spoon is made of titanium and is produced under the Keith brand name. Then I had hard time uprooting large trees with a hatchet and a crowbar. These are small cherries ('vishni') also growing from their blossoms. I did cut the trees and bushes until the very late time, burning them at the same time to clean the land. These are small gooseberries ('kryzhovnik'). Swan Sunset Hey, everyone! Yesterday I biked around and spotted a lake full of beautiful wild swans ('lebedi' in the Russian language).
