Every year in our barrio, we celebrate the feast day of Saint Lucy, the healer of the eyes. This celebration is very special to us because it brings the whole community together. Even if life is hard sometimes, the month of December brought a wonderful vibes for all of us. The altar was decorated carefully, and you can feel the love of the people in every small detail. Some families came early to pray quietly, asking for healing, guidance, and protection for their loved ones. At 4 am many are going to the church especially the mananata they are devoted to the Saint Lucy, they never missed to go in the church every year. Some came from very far places. Children, parents, and elders were all present. I saw many mothers holding their kids while whispering prayers. Some people touched the image of Saint Lucy, believing in her power to heal especially the eyes. It was a simple mass, but very meaningful.
