# Part 4: The Restless Rest I opened my eyes today, but I didn't feel awake. They say sleep is a sanctuary, a place where the world stops demanding things from you. But for me, last night was anything but a sanctuary. I started this day with a body that hasn't truly recovered and a mind that feels like it’s been wandering through a thick, cold mist for hours. How can you truly recharge when your thoughts are still running a marathon in the dark? Even when the espresso machine was turned off and the cafe lights were dimmed, the noise inside my head didn't stop. The exhaustion from Part 3 followed me into my sleep, turning my rest into a heavy, suffocating silence. ### The Agony of the "In-Between" I am not a demanding person. I am not shaking my fists at the sky, asking for a mountain to move or for a miracle to fall into my lap this very second. I understand that process takes time. But truthfully, it would be so much easier to breathe if there was just a clear sign—a definitive "Yes" to keep me going, or a sharp "No" so I can finally stop hoping for the wrong thing. The most exhausting part of this journey isn't the physical labor behind the counter; it’s the waiting. Uncertainty is a thief. It steals the comfort from my bed and the peace from my dreams. I tried to close my eyes and let go, but the stillness only made the questions louder: "How much longer can I hold this lever?" "Is there really a path behind this wall, or am I just standing in a dead end?" ### When "Long Rest" Becomes a Burden When the answers remain blurry, a long period of rest doesn't feel like a luxury—it feels like an uncomfortable delay. Every hour spent "resting" feels like sitting in a crowded waiting room where the clock has stopped ticking. You can't move forward, but you aren't allowed to leave. You are just stuck there, staring at the walls, waiting for a name to be called that never is. ### Functioning on Empty So, here I am again. The sun is up, but my internal world is still caught in that 1:00 AM shadow. I stand behind the counter, facing the hiss of the steam and the repetitive grind of the beans, carrying the weight of a night that provided no answers. My hands move by muscle memory—grind, tamp, brew—but my soul is somewhere else, still searching for that one definitive whisper from God. I am learning that the hardest part of the struggle isn't the battle itself. It’s the moments of silence where nothing is certain yet. I am tired—not just from a lack of sleep, but from the sheer heaviness of "not knowing." Closing: I will keep going today, even with this clouded mind and burning eyes. Not because I have found the map, but because staying still in this uncertainty feels even heavier than walking through it. I have come to realize that I am merely a tool, moving in accordance with the will of the Universe.
